At All Elite Wrestling’s Fight for the Fallen, which took place this past Saturday, Britt Baker teamed with Riho to challenge Shoko Nakajima and Bea Priestley. This was the second match that took place during “The Buy-in,” the pre-show leading to the main show. During the women’s tag team match in question, Baker suffered a concussion. This was officially confirmed by Baker on social media. During the match, with Baker as the legal competitor, Nakajima tagged in Priestley. This past Saturday, prior to AEW Fight for the Fallen, Jim Ross sat down to speak with Chris Van Vliet. During their over 50-minute interview, AEW’s current play-by-play announcer and senior advisor spoke on myriad topics, including his favorite matches, calls as a commentator, and his days in WWE with Vince McMahon in his ear. Ross spoke about AEW in terms of competition to WWE and his current role in the former. One of the topics discussed was the possibility of AEW usurping or, at the very least, competing with WWE. This Saturday, from the Daily’s Place Amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida, All Elite Wrestling will host AEW Fight for the Fallen. With this being the third pay-per-view held under the AEW umbrella, it’s safe to say that the promotion will endeavor to sustain momentum following Fyter Fest, which took place last month. On July 13th, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SoCal Uncensored will face The Lucha Brothers, Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix. This past Saturday, Alexander Hammerstone retained the MLW National Openweight Championship in the Star Spangled Hammer Challenge at Kings of Colosseum. This past April, the championship was officially unveiled, with heavyweight and middleweight wrestlers able to compete for it. It was then announced that four wrestlers would compete in a single-elimination tournament. With the winner becoming the first titleholder. Hammerstone defeated Gringo Loco while Brian Pillman Jr. defeated Rich Swann. The following month, Hammerstone and Pillman Jr. faced off at Fury Road 2019. On July 6th, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor defended the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu. Major League Wrestling held their Kings of Colosseum event, where Lawlor and Fatu squared off in the main event. Since winning the championship this past February, Lawlor has taken on different challengers, including former champion Low Ki and current AEW wrestler Jimmy Havoc.
