It is time for the final pay-per-view of 2023! It has been another historic year for All Elite Wrestling. And on December 30th, they end this year in MJF’s home of Long Island.
AEW Worlds End 2023 will have seven titles on the line and will crown the first-ever winner of the AEW Continental Classic. It should be a great way to end a strong 2023 for the world of professional wrestling. Let us look at what should be a truly fun night in Long Island.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Hook (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta
(FTW Championship)
(Zero Hour Pre-Show)
Hook has not appreciated the disrespect Wheeler Yuta showed in winning back the ROH Pure Championship. Yuta cheated in a Pure Rules match to win the title from Katsuyori Shibata in late November. Hook has vowed revenge and is willing to put his own title on the line at AEW Worlds End.
The FTW Championship will be decided over FTW Rules at World’s End. This basically means anything goes. Wheeler Yuta has shown he is willing to do anything to win a championship. Can he become a double champion at the end of 2023?
AEW Worlds End 2023
Kris Statlander vs. Willow Nightingale
(Zero Hour Pre-Show)
On AEW Rampage, Stokely Hathaway convinced Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander to face off in a “friendly contest” in Long Island. Nightingale seemed hesitant to a singles match, but Statlander quickly accepted.
The match between two Long Island wrestlers will happen at AEW World’s End Zero Hour. Can their friendship survive this competition? We shall see.
AEW Worlds End 2023
20-Man Battle Royale
(Winner Gets Future TNT Championship Match)
(Zero Hour Pre-Show)
It is a Zero Hour on an AEW pay-per-view, so it must be time for a Battle Royale! The winner of this match will get a future TNT Championship match. The Battle Royales in All Elite Wrestling are always fun.
We don’t know the names in the match, but with such high stakes, it should be a fun way to start the show in Long Island.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara), Sting and Darby Allin
This was certainly a last-minute addition to the card on Dynamite. Sammy Guevara returned from injury and didn’t appreciate the disrespect Don Callis showed in involving his new baby in the Callis Family paintings.
It led to a Callis Family eventually attacking Guevara until Chris Jericho made the save. Le Sex Gods were back together again.
The reunion was short-lived as the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks & Big Bill, attacked Le Sex Gods. That is until a returning Darby Allin and Sting made the save.
It certainly was a lot that occurred on AEW Dynamite, but it all led to this fun eight-man tag team match at AEW World’s End. And seeing Sting in one of his final pay-per-view matches? That is always worth it.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson), Mark Briscoe and Daniel Garcia vs. Brody King, Jay White, Jay Lethal and Rush
It is an eight-man tag team action with the competitors of the Continental Classic. All eight fell short of winning the grueling Continental Classic tournament. They will have a lot to prove at AEW World’s End.
The key to this match is seeing which team can gel together the best. The Blackpool Combat Club will work together well but can they co-exist with Mark Briscoe and Daniel Garcia?
And having a team of Brody King, Jay White, Jay Lethal, and Rush? It will be a truly chaotic experience on Saturday night.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Miro vs Andrade El Idolo
Andrade El Idolo has been managed by Miro’s wife, CJ Perry, in the last few weeks. He was unable to win the Continental Classic but put on an impressive showing. But Miro is not exactly pleased with Andrade having CJ as his manager. He will be out for blood at AEW World’s End.
Hopefully, Andrade will be ready for the wrath of Miro. One of the biggest questions is will CJ Perry be at ringside? She was dealing with a health scare recently, but her presence will be a major factor in this match-up on Saturday night.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Julia Hart (c) vs. Abadon
(AEW TBS Championship)
Julia Hart, at 22 years old, is the youngest champion in AEW History. She has been terrorizing the women’s roster since joining the House of Black in 2022. It all paid off when she won the AEW TBS Championship at WrestleDream this October.
But at AEW Worlds End, she will be facing someone who will not be intimidated by Hart’s mind games. Abadon, “The Living Dead Girl,” has been scaring wrestlers in AEW for nearly four years now.
Can she pull off the upset and end Julia Hart’s title reign? It should certainly be a unique match on Saturday night.
AEW Worlds End 2023
“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Riho
(AEW Women’s World Championship)
“Timeless” Toni Storm has certainly become one of the most entertaining characters in all of professional wrestling. Did we expect a “Sunset Boulevard” homage in 2023? No, but it has surely been a fun ride for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Storm will be defending the title against Riho on Saturday night. On the April 12, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite, Toni Storm and the rest of the Social Outcasts attacked Riho and put her out of action for months.
It is a different Toni Storm now, but Riho has not forgotten what Storm did to her months ago. Can she get revenge and take the AEW Women’s World Championship on Saturday night?
AEW Worlds End 2023
Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) vs. Keith Lee
Swerve Strickland suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Gold League final. He wasn’t actually pinned in the Triple Threat match, but it was a loss, nevertheless. Backstage, he shared his frustration and also challenged Keith Lee to a match on Saturday night at AEW Worlds End.
Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee’s match is a long time coming. They held the AEW World Tag Team Championship in 2022 before losing it at AEW Grand Slam last September. The tag team finally broke up thanks to a cinder block to Lee’s chest by the hands of Mogul Affiliates and Strickland.
After many months, Lee and Strickland will finally face off in singles action on pay-per-view. What will happen when two of the most talented competitors in all of All Elite Wrestling finally face off?
AEW Worlds End 2023
Eddie Kingston vs. Jon Moxley
(Continental Classic Final)
(Winner Becomes the Triple Crown Champion: ROH World Championship, NJPW Strong Openweight Championship and AEW Continental Championship)
The excellent month-long Continental Classic comes to an end on Saturday night. The Blue League winner (Eddie Kingston) will face off against the Gold League winner (Jon Moxley) in the Continental Classic Finals.
It is certainly a very personal match between two friends in All Elite Wrestling. But they will put their friendship aside for the huge prize at AEW World’s End.
The winner will be the first-ever winner of the Continental Classic. The winner will also become a Triple Crown Champion, holding championships in ROH, NJPW, and AEW. Kingston certainly doesn’t want to lose his ROH World Championship and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship to Jon Moxley.
He has never beaten Moxley in a singles competition. Can he finally do it at World’s End? The stakes certainly could be any higher.
AEW Worlds End 2023
Christian Cage (c) vs. Adam Copeland
(No Disqualification Match)
(AEW TNT Championship)
This is easily the most personal match on the entire card. Adam Copeland shocked the world with his AEW debut at WrestleDream in October. He told the AEW audience that he joined the company because he wanted to end his career with his friend Christian Cage.
Cage didn’t feel the same way and has made Copeland’s life a living hell in recent weeks on AEW Television.
After being cheated out of the AEW TNT Championship on a recent Dynamite, Copeland demanded another opportunity at the title. It will be a No Disqualification Match for the AEW TNT Championship at World’s End.
Can Cage hold onto the title that means so much to him? He certainly isn’t above using members of The Patriarchy to help him win. Will Copeland be prepared to overcome the overwhelming odds on Saturday night?
AEW Worlds End 2023
MJF (c) vs. Samoa Joe
(AEW World Championship)
MJF has held the AEW World Championship for over a year now. He has overcome many challenges in his historic reign. But at AEW Worlds End, in front of his hometown fans, MJF might face his biggest challenge to date.
Samoa Joe was furious after losing to MJF at this year’s AEW Grand Slam. He did everything in his power to get a rematch from the AEW World Champion. After getting his rematch, he vowed to protect MJF until AEW World’s End.
That is until he attacked MJF on last week’s AEW Dynamite, costing him the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
MJF is heading into the match, beat up from a year’s worth of injuries. Samoa Joe has been attacking him, The Devil and his Masked Men have been attacking him, and even other wrestlers have MJF in their sights.
Can MJF overcome the odds yet again and finish 2023 the champion? It will be quite a celebration in Long Island if he does.
