As a wrestling enthusiast for over 30 years, my fondness for professional wrestling explores the irrational in a rational way. I will explore the details inside and outside the ring and hopefully have a laugh with you in the process. I've had the fortune to interview wrestlers from Lucha Underground, TNA, Ring of Honor, GFW, and former WWE talent as well. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @TheMarcMadison
Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole’s story goes beyond their Unsanctioned match at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver on August 22, 2021. Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole are joined at the hip with one another. Fans are encouraged to look beyond this recent betrayal and beyond the Undisputed Era’s narrative because their story goes back twelve years. ______________________ During their time in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), the two faced one another as part of the Twelfth Anniversary show. Cole had defeated future rival Johnny Gargano and then O’Reilly, thus moving him into the Best of the Best X tournament’s semi-finals. Cole…
While one duo managed to achieve success in the WWE as the Can-Am Connection in Tom Zenk and Rick Martel, they aren’t the duo we’re addressing, the Can Am Express. Both men came from different territories. Phil LaFon competed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as part of Rene Rougeau’s promotion as Dan Kroffat. In fact, throughout the majority of Kroffat’s career, he used this name. It wasn’t until he joined the WWE that he adapted the Phil LaFon name. Before that, Kroffat was discovered by the late Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid; he initially trained for Stampede Wrestling. Doug Furnas…
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. To mention one, it is virtually impossible not to mention the other. Their history goes well beyond what we see today. Their history with one another goes back over two decades. During their time in their native home of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Zayn and Owens would face each other for the first time. As part of the International Wrestling Syndicate, Owens and Zayn would compete at the event titled Payback’s a Bi**ch! It was also in IWS where Steen defeated Zayn to capture the IWS Championship. _______________________ Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn – Fight Forever,…
WWE presented its first-ever Money In the Bank 2010 pay-per-view event from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The show began with introductions of the announce team: Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, and Matt Striker. What was interesting to note here is that it was a three-person team, as broadcasters from each brand were assembled to create the team. That has changed in recent years, as WWE now alternates between Raw-specific and Smackdown Live-specific commentators. This is the WWE Sunday Night Pay Per RetroView for Money In the Bank 2010. Smackdown Brand Money In the Bank 2010 Ladder Match Kofi Kingston…
Life is hard. It becomes even harder when the life you live, when the first two-plus decades of your life, something didn’t feel right. The life and career of Kagetsu is unlike that of many of his contemporaries. While he career did begin at the age of 18, which wasn’t uncommon, it also ended just short of his 30th birthday. In Western culture, women wrestlers’ careers don’t typically end early but tend to last for many well into their thirties and, in some instances, their forties. So from the onset, Kagetsu’s career wasn’t comparable to wrestling’s most successful women’s wrestlers in North America. For 12 years, Yu Ishino made a name for himself as a notable name in Joshi Wrestling. Kagetsu – The Rise…
