A lot of people are excited about All Elite Wrestling’s ( AEW ) first PPV, Double or Nothing and now, we’re going to talk about one of the main events of this show and it’s the next chapter between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho and what to expect.
Do I really need to do a breakthrough about who they are? I know all of you know who they are as you have one who is considered one of the GOAT and one is considered the Best Bout Machine. If you really don’t know who the two of these people are then I really don’t know what to tell you at this point. I will, however, talk about the history between these two.
On November 5th, 2017 at New Japan’s Power Struggle, Chris Jericho made his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling and has made a challenge to Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Championship at the Wrestle Kingdom 12, which Kenny would accept to see who really was the best in the world. Jericho attacked him at a December show and it leads to an all-out brawl, leading the match to now be a No Disqualification Match. On January 4th, 2018 at the big show at the Tokyo Dome, the two would finally have their dream match and Kenny Omega defeated Chris Jericho to retain the IWGP United States Championship and Kenny proved that he was the new best in the world when he defeated the Alpha in the Alpha vs. Omega match.
Since Kenny Omega defeated Chris Jericho, it looks like they went down their own path and will never fight again, right? Wrong.
On September 9th, 2018 at All In, Kenny Omega defeated Pentagon Jr and once the match was over, the lights went out and Pentagon attacked Kenny. But we later found out that it wasn’t Pentagon that attacked Kenny under that mask as it was Chris Jericho disguised at Penta to seek his revenge after nine months from their last encounter. Jericho issued a challenge to him during the Cruise of Jericho and that he would see him there for chapter 2. They fought at the Jericho Cruise on the October 25th, 2018 show where it would be a six-man tag team match as Chris Jericho would team up with The Young Bucks as they take on members of Elite, Kenny Omega, Cody, and Marty Scurll. Kenny’s team would win the match as it meant that Kenny Omega would once again have another win over Chris Jericho.
On February 8th during AEW’s press conference, Kenny Omega would reveal that he has signed a contract with AEW after multiple rumors of joining WWE when he left NJPW back in January as the fans are happy to see Kenny change the world with his fellow Elite members. However, it looks like Chris Jericho isn’t too happy about the announcement as he confronted Kenny to get that one on one rematch. It leads into another brawl on the podium as the two were separated and we find out that the match was made official at Double or Nothing.
With the big show being tomorrow, there’s a lot we can expect for this type of match-up as we’ve seen the evolution of Chris Jericho compared to the last time he wrestled Kenny. Chris Jericho has a new personality along with a different type of style and a new finisher he looks to use on Kenny to finally get a win over his new rival. There’s also more at stake here since the winner of this match will receive an opportunity to go for the AEW World Championship against the winner of the Casino Battle Royal. I’m excited to see how this match unfolds and you’d be crazy to not wanna watch this match AEW Double or Nothing.
