NJPW To Return On June 15th
In an online press conference last night, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced they are resuming operations on June 15th. NJPW has not held a live event since February 26th, and on March 23rd, they canceled all events through April 11th. In total, the company canceled 53 live events due to COVID-19. Fans are anticipating the return of NJPW events on June 15th. Major League Wrestling announced today via press release that Saieve Al Sabah has signed a multi-year contract with the company. Al Sabah appeared on the June 4th edition of Pulp Fusion, joining Jordan Oliver and Myron Reed in #Injustice. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made an announcement on Twitter this afternoon regarding the state’s plan for reopening. Effective Friday, retail shops and malls can operate at full capacity. Meanwhile, restaurants and entertainment venues can operate at 50% capacity. This executive order marks the beginning of phase 2 of the plan, going into effect for all but 3 counties on Friday. IMPACT Wrestling teases multiple debuts on their flagship show last night. During the broadcast, they aired a promo video for the Slammiversary pay-per-view, scheduled for July 18th. The video featured an anonymous figure watching a news briefing about the superstars recently released by WWE. GCW Announced Return of Live Shows
GCW announced via Twitter that they are starting the return of live shows again on June 20th. Game Changer Wrestling presents The Wrld on GCW Part 2 will broadcast live from White River State Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The indie wrestling promotion has also come forward with details regarding COVID-19 prevention. This event marks GCW’s first show in the Hoosier State. White River State Park is a 250-acre park in downtown Indianapolis. GCW will reduce ringside seating by 50% with staggered seating to allow proper social distancing. The world of professional wrestling lost another star when Danny Havoc passed away on the 31st of May. Havoc, real name Grant Berkland, was best known for his work with Game Changer Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling. He died just 12 days after his 34th birthday. The Powerbomb into the turnbuckles has made some in the company uneasy in recent years. In 2015, Sting suffered a career-ending neck injury after taking a Buckle Bomb from Seth Rollins.
