In this week’s WWE NXT preview for 4/27/21, fans have two sets of champions in action and a former champion set to address the crowd. With the growing issues between the NXT Cruiserweight, NXT Tag Team Champions, and Legado del Fantasma, it was sure to come to a head sooner or later. How will the current champions fare against Legado del Fantasma?

Also, making his return after being in the fight of his life against former friend and now bitter enemy Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole addresses his current state. Cole will not sit idle with vengeance in his view. All this and a match that has the potential to lead to a future NXT North American Championship opportunity.

KUSHIDA & MSK vs Legado del Fantasma

This six-man tag team match was bound to happen in a battle of current champions and former champions. The growing animosity between these six men has reached a boiling point. Escobar is likely still feeling the sting of losing the NXT Cruiserweight Championship to KUSHIDA. After proclaiming himself the greatest (in not so many words), Escobar is now in the role of challenger looking to unseat the current champion. While it won’t take place in this match, that isn’t to say that it won’t be his ultimate goal.

The same could be said about Wilde and Mendoza as they, too, are looking to capture the championships from Wes Lee and Nash Carter. While a win won’t give the former champions the titles, it will go a long way in leaving an impression as they are to go into a championship match amongst them.

    Mercedes Martinez vs Dakota Kai

With the likely impending decision to have Martinez contend for the NXT Women’s Championship, she faces an obstacle that could also make things personal. In facing Dakota Kai, Martinez has the chance not only to beat Big Mami Cool’s best friend but inflict so much pain that it could get into the head of the champion. Martinez has not hidden the fact that she has her sights set on Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship. A win here by Martinez once again puts her in contention for the championship. She was a threat against Io Shirai and physically matches up very well with Gonzalez.

Kai will be in for a huge test as she faces someone for the first time in a reported seven years. Both women last faced each other at New Horizon Pro Wrestling’s Global Conflict in the final. They have been in battle royals with one another but nothing one on one since 2014.

    Bronson Reed vs. Austin Theory

If at first, you don’t succeed try try again. It’s an older mantra but one that typically seems to hold weight in professional wrestling (sports entertainment). In the case of Bronson Reed, the motivation to defeat Austin Theory couldn’t be any greater! As it’s been stipulated, if Reed could defeat Theory, he will receive an NXT North American Championship opportunity. Reed last faced Gargano for the title on Night Two of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver. The Colossal one was able to withstand a gauntlet match the night before to earn himself an opportunity.

With dissension taking place within The Way at the moment, a win by Reed is more than likely to take place. The ongoing distraction taking place with Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell and an easily distracted Theory all point in the right direction for a win by Reed.

Adam Cole In An Exclusive Interview

Cole returns to the Capital Wrestling Centre for the first time since Stand & Deliver. Fans saw the emergence of what is ‘Cool’ Kyle on this past week’s edition of NXT. O’Reilly shared that he is taking his life back after selling his soul to the Undisputed Era. He was immediately challenged by Cameron Grimes and quickly put Grimes straight to the ground when he was finished with him. For Cole, as it says above, has a lot to say about what took place. What else can fans anticipate that he’ll address? Will he acknowledge Roderick Strong’s ‘quitting’ or Bobby Fish’s absence?

Cole has long been motivated at being the best and facing the best. To expect him to do anything but want to come after Kyle and avenge that loss would be out of character. Fans may be privy to a version of Adam Cole that is likely prepared to be even more dangerous and deceitful than ever before.

    What To Expect

    • How will Finn Balor address his loss to Karrion Kross at TakeOver?
    • Will things progress between Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis?
    • What will LA Knight have to say after coming off a win after last week’s show?
