Coming off of their highly successful first pay-per-view event, Saturday Night SuperFight, the world of MLW truly never stops. They head down to Orlando and the Gilt Nightclub for Blood & Thunder. This is a taping for future episodes of MLW Fusion, so if you aren’t able to make it out to enjoy in person, the matches will be available to be seen at a later date. There are dream matches and a continuation of a blood feud between Jimmy Havoc and Mance Warner. There’s also the very special Mystery Box Battle Royal, where even the participants don’t know if they’re in or not until the match begins. Let’s get to the action!
“Filthy” Tom Lawlor vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.
In what is being billed as a dream match, Tom Lawlor will clash with Davey Boy Smith Jr. Both men are tall, powerful and far too agile for their heights. They are also both accomplished in some form of martial arts. During Lawlor’s reign as MLW World Heavyweight Champion, a poll was done on MLW’s Twitter in which they wanted to see who the fans wanted to face Lawlor. Davey Boy was the runaway winner of that poll. Now, months later, with no title on the line, they will finally meet. Following his loss to Hammerstone, Smith looks to regain momentum. Lawlor won at Saturday Night SuperFight and would like nothing more than to earn another match with Jacob Fatu for the title.
Timothy Thatcher vs. Low-Ki
World-renowned fighter Timothy Thatcher returns to MLW for Blood & Thunder. And as always with Thatcher, he’s looking for a fight. Coming off a tough loss against Tom Lawlor at Saturday Night SuperFight, he’s certainly going to be more irritable than usual. Low-Ki picked up yet another victory at that same event, this time over Brian Pillman Jr. This match won’t be pretty as both are known for powerful strikes and doing what it takes to win.
Mystery Box Battle Royal
This is a special attraction for Blood & Thunder, a Mystery Box Battle Royal. It will feature 20 fighters ranging from all across MLW’s extensive roster. Even the wrestlers won’t know who’s involved until the match happens and each fighter is announced. New alliances could sprout forth or old ones may be broken, it’s all a mystery!
Zeda Zhang vs. The Spider Lady
Zeda Zhang is a Chinese-American wrestler who got her big break in NXT. Since her release, she’s been honing her craft working all over Asia and the United States. Her most recent stint saw her work with CIMA in China. Now as MLW prepares to launch it’s much-anticipated women’s division, Zeda Zhang is the first name to be signed. Her opponent for Blood & Thunder though goes under the ominous moniker, The Spider Lady. Over the last month, The Spider Lady has been bombarding MLW with messages about her plan and other diatribes. We don’t know exactly who The Spider Lady is, but she is looking to make an impact.
Falls Count Anywhere Match
Jimmy Havoc vs. Mance Warner
The war between Warner and Havoc continues at Blood & Thunder. After ol’ Mancer’s victory in the Stairway to Hell match, Havoc again attacked him viciously. A similar attack in September left Mance down and out with a punctured lung. Now as they roll into the Gilt Nightclub in Orlando, MLW officials decided to up the ante for these two again. Their match will be falls count anywhere, so they can maybe finally settle this score.
MLW World Middleweight Championship Match
Teddy Hart (c) vs. Myron Reed
Making his second title defense in seven days is Teddy Hart. If he makes it to December 14th with the title, his reign will have spanned an entire year. He’s turned back countless challengers in that time, including MJF, Jimmy Havoc, Ace Austin, and Austin Aries. Now at Blood & Thunder, he will take on Myron Reed of Injustice. Since defeating Rey Horus on episode 55 of MLW Fusion, he’s helped bring Injustice an impressive series of wins. Now that he’s been elevated to number one contender’s status, Reed has the chance to cement his status. Hart won’t walk away from the title that easily, but he will have to account for the other members of Injustice.
Also scheduled to appear at Blood & Thunder: Savio Vega, The Dynasty, Douglas James, Gringo Loco, Injustice, Brian Pillman, Jr., Leo Brien, Zenshi, tag team champions Ross and Marshall Von Erich, and World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu with CONTRA Unit and more. Limited tickets remain, so if you would like to join in for this MLW Fusion taping at the Gilt Nightclub, you can. If not, stay tuned for future episodes of MLW Fusion to catch all the incredible action.
