Shibata Arrives in AEW
This week’s AEW Dynamite saw Orange Cassidy overcome Luchasaurus and Rey Fenix to successfully defend his All-Atlantic Championship. However, it was what occurred after the bell that had fans talking. New Japan Pro Wrestling star Katsuyori Shibata made his AEW debut, signing an open contract for a “All-Atlantic City Dream Match” on Friday’s edition of Rampage.
The title bout lived up to the hype, with the two men delivering a generally well-received matchup. Cassidy came out on top, retaining his title for the second time of the week. If Dave Meltzer is correct, Shibata has requested two AEW matches; Cassidy and Bryan Danielson.

Boom Boom! Colt Cabana
Wednesday’s Dynamite saw Chris Jericho put his Ring of Honor World Championship on the line against a former ROH Champion, revealed to be none other than a returning Colt Cabana. The former ROH Tag Team Champion hadn’t wrestled on Dynamite since November 24, 2021, when he literally had a tooth kicked in by Bryan Danielson.
Many saw this as a direct shot at CM Punk, who had a lot to say about Cabana during the infamous All Out media scrum which got him suspended and stripped of the World Championship. The Wrestling Observer reported Cabana’s return was considered a “morale booster” for the AEW locker room.

Hayter vs. Storm set for Full Gear
Another match has been made official for Full Gear, with the increasingly popular Jamie Hayter being given the shot at Toni Storm’s Interim Women’s Championship. The title match was announced during Wednesday’s Dynamite, via a video package highlighting Storm and Hayter’s history, dating back to pre-AEW.
Storm implied that Dr. Britt Baker had changed Hayter, which led to their strained relationship. Will AEW pull the trigger on a Hayter title win and the possible betrayal of Baker?

Hobbs wants the TNT Title… but does Samoa Joe too?
Dynamite and Rampage both concluded in a similar fashion, with Powerhouse Hobbs making his intentions clear to challenge TNT Champion Wardlow. With a TNT Title match not yet announced for Full Gear, could we actually be in-store for a three-way bout?
After WarJoe (Samoa Joe & Wardlow) defeated The Gates of Agony on Rampage, Hobbs walked on stage and gestured a belt across his waist. Wadlow pushed Joe to the side, which he didn’t seem to like, could this possibly be a way to insert Joe into a title match at Full Gear? We’ll likely find out this week.
