WWE Raw And Smackdown Live Recapatory 8/28/19 (Strowman Decimates The OC)

It’s boss time as Sasha Banks makes her way to the ring to kick off Monday Night Raw. She’s advertised for a match against Natalya tonight. They replay the video from two weeks ago on WWE Monday Night Raw when Sasha Banks attacked Natalya. Sasha has a mic and she begins talking about how even though she’s been away from WWE television for four months, she has still been the talk of the women’s division. She admits to taking her ball and going home after WrestleMania. Sasha also complained about Becky Lynch main eventing WrestleMania with Ronda Rousey. She also complained that her WrestleMania payoff check wasn’t as big as Becky Lynch’s.

Sasha went on to say that she is the boss and she’s better than all the other women on the roster. Natalya interrupted Sasha and ran down the ramp to brawl with her. They exchanged blows on the outside of the ring for a minute before the referees and agents came to break it up.

Backstage the Street Profits are talking about the rest of the matches on the card for Raw tonight. They inform the audience that there will be an 8 team tag team turmoil match, with the winning team facing WWE Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman at Clash of the Champions.

Ricochet is out to the ring next to face Drew McIntyre in a King of the Ring match. As he’s making his entrance, they cut to a backstage promo where he says he’s willing to do anything to become King of the Ring. Drew makes his way down to the ring and does a backstage promo as well where he says he doesn’t care about all the past King of the Ring winners and that once he becomes King McIntyre, all the unworthy WWE Superstars will be exiled. Drew McIntyre would dominate the early portion of the match until Ricochet built some momentum and eventually got Drew to make a mistake which allowed him to hit the Recoil and follow up with the 630 Splash to pick up the upset victory over Drew McIntyre.

They show a video replay of Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins defeating The OC to win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships last week.

The OC, Gallows & Anderson are in the locker room for an interview. They talked about how Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman earned a tag team title opportunity out of thin air. They also remarked how unfair it is that they have to face off against seven other teams just to earn their rematch for the WWE Raw Tag Team titles.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley is out first as she prepares to take on Nikki Cross. As the show comes back from break, they replay the video of Rey Mysterio and his son Dominic convincing him not to retire from last week.

Nikki Cross, one half of the WWE women’s Tag Team Champions is out next to take on Bayley. The announce team makes a point of emphasis that Alexa Bliss is not accompanying Nikki to ringside. Nikki gave a great effort but fell victim to Bailey as she hit the top rope elbow for the victory.

Tag team turmoil is next and the Viking Raiders are out to set things off. The former Tag Team Champions, the B Team are the opponents for the Viking Raiders. The tag teams in this competition will face off in a gauntlet style match until one team is left standing. The Viking Raiders made short work of the B-Team.

Gallows and Anderson, the OC are the next opponents. They get a jump on the Viking Raiders and take advantage of them early. Things break down and the referee cannot get the teams to clear the ring. They brawl until the referee throws out the match and disqualifies both teams.

A brand new team, the Glorious One Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler are out next. They come back from commercial break and the action has already begun in the ring with the Lucha House Party opposing Ziggler and Roode. Ziggler picked up the victory for his team after super kicking Gran Metalik and pinning him. The Revival is out next.

Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler have had their first two matches as a tag team and have gone 2-0 after Robert Roode picked up the victory by pinning Scott Dawson. Former Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins are the next team to come out. They are also the next team to fall to Ziggler and Roode after Ziggler hit Hawkins with a superkick and pinned him in the middle of the ring.

Heavy Machinery is out next and the winner of the contest will be the new number one contenders for the Tag Team Championships. Ziggler and Roode leave the ring and attempt to walk up the ramp while signaling that they would like a timeout but Heavy Machinery goes on the offense and jump-starts the match. Robert Roode hits a Glorious DDT on Tucker to propel him and Dolph to the new number one contender spot. They will face Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins at Clash of the Champions.

They play another vignette of the Roman Reigns situation on WWE Raw.

Natalya vs Sasha is up next after their wild brawl to kick off the show. Corey Graves puts over the fact that even though Sasha Banks is not a good person, that makes her the best competitor she can be because she’s not concerned about anyone else besides herself. It was a hard-fought contest, but Sasha Banks picked up the submission victory with the Bank Statement. After the match was over Sasha Banks returned to the ring and locked the Bank Statement in again on Natalya.

Backstage, United States Champion AJ Styles does an interview where he talks about how Gallows and Anderson were robbed of their Tag Team Championship opportunity. He also tells Braun that there’s no way he’s going to leave Clash of Champions with three titles because he will not get his hands on the United States Championship.

Cedric Alexander vs Cesaro is up next. The action began and they went to a commercial break. After the break, they showed a replay of how Cesaro has been targeting the leg of Cedric Alexander. The announce team talks about how important it is for Cedric to escape this match unharmed because of his King of the Ring Quarterfinal match against Baron Corbin next week. Although he took a beating from Cesaro, Cedric Alexander hit the Lumbar Check and picked up the victory.

They showed a video of R-Truth losing the 24/7 Championship to one of the Fox Sports college football hosts. That host then immediately lost the belt to Elias as R-Truth chased him.

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode are backstage in an interview segment on WWE Raw. They talk about how they don’t trust any of the other WWE Superstars and who better to partner up with than another Superstar who’s just as hungry as you are. They’re looking forward to the championship match against Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins.

Braun Strowman vs United States Champion AJ Styles is up next. The Fiend is not here this week, but they show a video package of his Firefly Funhouse show.

Braun and AJ begin the match for AJ’s United States Championship but before any real headway can be made, Gallows and Anderson storm the ring and attack Braun, causing a disqualification on WWE Raw. Braun eventually got the upper hand and laid waste to all three members of The OC to close WWE Monday Night Raw.

We begin Smackdown Live with a video replay of the Roman Reigns storyline. We go live to the arena and Roman Reigns is walking backstage. The interviewer asks Roman if he plans to apologize to Erick Rowan and Daniel Bryan. Roman Reigns said he has plenty to say to them but he would rather say it in the ring.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston is out to the ring next. A vignette of Kofi’s rivalry and matches with The Viper, Randy Orton is shown. Kofi grabbed the microphone and said that his feud with Randy Orton is going to another level. He claims all he wanted to do was show the world that he belonged in the top spot, but he says Randy has made it personal.

Randy appeared on the screen while holding a piece of alleged fan mail. He read the letter and it asked him to stop being mean and hurting Kofi. The letter was supposedly from Kofi’s son, Kai. Randy Orton said that he was staying in the same hotel as Kofi’s family and he wasn’t going to reply to the letter, but he would pay him a visit. Kofi ran out of the ring, up the ramp to the backstage area where he met Orton and they brawled in the gorilla position. Orton got the upper hand and hit a hanging DDT on Kofi before the referees and backstage agents broke up the fight.

Back from commercial, Big E is talking to Kayla outside the trainer’s room. He says that he knows for a fact that Kofi will be 100% by the time he faces Orton at the Clash, but he can’t guarantee Randy will make it to Clash after their match tonight.

Ali is out next to compete in the first of the final two King of the Ring first-round matches. He’s facing off against Buddy Murphy, who defeated The New Daniel Bryan last week. Ali and Murphy exchanged a handshake before the match began. There was an early near fall after Buddy Murphy his Ali with a running knee strike.

Back from commercial Ali has the upper hand and they show the 24/7 Champion Elias watching backstage on a monitor. He will face the winner of the match next week. They traded a few high-impact moves to the delight of the live audience. Ali advanced after hitting the 450 Splash and picking up the 1-2-3. The shared another handshake after the match ended as Ali stood victorious.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley is backstage when Ember Moon comes up to talk. She tells Bayley that she’s still processing her SummerSlam loss. She also tells her that Charlotte was wrong about being the face of the Women’s division. Lacey Evans shows up and insults them both by calling them ‘nasties’ and that she’ll prove it in the ring tonight in their match. It’s Bayley versus Lacey Evans later.

Miz is out to address the beatdown he took from Sami Zayn and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura last week. He said that apparently, Sami is speaking for Nakamura now. He also addressed Nakamura and his Intercontinental Title. The title Miz claimed he made prestigious. He then challenged the champion to a match at Night of Champions. Sami Zayn interrupted Miz and told him that doesn’t get a title shot. Miz started up the ramp after him but Nakamura attacked him from behind. Zayn and Nakamura then beat down The Miz inside the ring. Sami held Miz up and Nakamura hit him with a Kinshasa, just like last week.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley is out first as she prepares to face Lacey Evans. Shortly after the match started, Charlotte Flair made her way to ringside. She faces Bayley at Clash of Champions.

Lacey maintained the upper hand by working on Bayley’s left arm. Lacey hit Bayley with a moonsault off the top rope for a near fall. After both competitors beat the 10-count to avoid a double disqualification, Bayley hit a Bayley-to-Belly but only got a 2-count. After another Bayley-to-Belly, Bayley hit the elbow drop from the top rope to pick up the win. She gestured to Charlotte Flair as she stood victorious.

The Viper, Randy Orton is out first, ready to face New Day member and Smackdown Tag Team Champion, Big E. After the commercial, a vignette is shown of Bobby Lashley and Bruan Strowman destroying the Monday Night Raw set last month. Big E is out next, and he begins the match by attacking early and with some heavy impact. They brawl and E tosses Randy over the announce table.

Big E missed his signature apron splash as they go to commercial. The Revival show up and as the referee’s back was turned, they inserted themselves in the match and allowed Randy to hit the RKO for the victory. After the match, Dawson and Wilder hit the FTRKO (a combination of The Revival’s ‘Shatter Machine’ and the RKO).

Backstage with Chad Gable now where he talks about being the underdog. He says Shelton should know better than to underestimate him. Shelton Benjamin shows up and makes with the short jokes by standing right next to Gable and asking the interviewer if she’d seen him. They show Elias walking backstage before they go to commercial.

Elias is out and he sits on the King of the Ring throne and trashes Kevin Owens until he appears behind him and starts beating him down. They brawl into the ring where Elias eats a Stunner. R-Truth appears with a referee and tries to cover Elias for the 24/7 Championship. Drake Maverick yanks Truth out of the ring and lays him out. He then covers Elias to once again become the 24/7 Champion.

Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin are up next in the last King of the Ring matchup. Andrade and Zelina Vega are shown watching the monitor backstage as he will face the winner of this match. Chad Gable would pick up the win after pinning Shelton with a reverse backslide pin.

Roman Reigns enters the ring and begins to talk about whether or not he would apologize to Daniel Bryan and Rowan for their alleged involvement in the near-accidents that have befallen him lately. Before he does, he plays a video clip of the first incident backstage. As the rigging and structures fell down around him, the camera zeroed in on a shadowy figure that appeared to be Rowan pushing over some crates.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan was incensed. He started slapping Rowan across the face saying, “I hate liars!” He then took a microphone and made his way to the ring. He repeated over and over again that he hates liars and he did not tell Rowan to do that. He claims he had no idea. As soon as he stepped into the ring, Roman speared him to close the show.

What's up folks, I'm Hab and I've been a wrestling fan for more than thirty years. I grew up on the NWA and Crockett Promotions in the Triad City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. My favorite wrestler of all time is Bret Hart. At the moment, I'm a Cesaro hipster and The World's Biggest Luke Harper fan. I was at the Smackdown! taping when Brock Lesnar threw Zach Gowen down a flight of steps in the New Orleans Arena and laughed about it for the next two days. I have a few loves in my life, my beautiful daughter, my family, professional wrestling and hip-hop are just some of them.
