WWE Payback makes is return for the second time in six years with WWE Payback 2023. This year’s edition is emanating from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The event is appropriately named as each of the six matches has one competitor (or team) looking for payback from the other competitor (team). Four titles will be on the line.

United States Championship:
Rey Mysterio vs. Austin Theory
Rey Mysterio defends his newly won United States Championship against the man he took the title from a couple of weeks ago on Smackdown, Austin Theory. Theory took out the #1 contender Santos Escobar to not defend the title against him.
Adam Pearce substituted Mysterio in the scheduled title match, and he won the title. Will Mysterio continue to ride the wave of momentum for the LWO? Can Theory get his payback on the one who took the United States title from him?

Steel Cage Match:
Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus
Becky Lynch finally gets Trish Stratus in a match where there can be no more excuses. Stratus has tried to dodge Lynch whenever she could, even using the assistance of Zoey Stark.
Lynch scored a decisive victory over Stark in their Falls Count Anywhere match on Raw. Will Lynch finally get her payback on Stratus to end their feud? Will Stratus find another way to wiggle out of the match?

LA Knight vs. The Miz
LA Knight is one of the fastest-rising stars right now in WWE. Knight and Miz crossed paths in the SummerSlam battle royal, where Knight eliminated the A-Lister from the match. Their feud has crossed over both brands, Raw (Miz) and Smackdown (Knight).
Can LA Knight continue to ride his wave of momentum? Will The Miz get payback on Knight?

Women’s World Heavyweight Championship:
Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez
Raquel Rodriguez has been counting the days until she could get some payback on Rhea Ripley after she put both Rodriguez and her tag team partner Liv Morgan on the shelf with injuries.
Rodriguez is cleared to compete and ready to fight. Can Rodriguez be the one to finally overpower Ripley for the title? Can Ripley find a way to keep the title with The Judgment Day?

Steel City Street Fight for the WWE Tag Team Championships:
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens vs. Damian Priest & Finn Balor
Sami Zayn said on Raw this will be Judgment Day’s final shot at the tag titles. Finn Balor and Damian Priest have not been getting along as of late so this could be a team-building exercise.
Rhea Ripley told them on Raw that they need to bring the titles to The Judgment Day, or changes would have to be made. Will Balor and Priest making Mami happy by bringing the titles to Judgment Day? Can Owens and Zayn finally vanquish Judgment Day and their tag title dreams?

World Heavyweight Championship:
Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Shinsuke Nakamura wanted a shot at Seth Rollins’s World Heavyweight Championship. Instead of asking him straight up, Nakamura knocked Rollins down after a tag match. Nakamura has brought out the fact Rollins has been dealing with serious back issues for the past couple of years.
Will Rollins’s back hold up so he can notch another successful title defense? Will Nakamura take what he wants, the World Heavyweight Championship? Will Priest cash in his Money in the Bank contract?
