As we enter the month of February, NXT continues on as they continue to move on with scheduled Dusty Rhodes Men’s and Women’s Tag Team Classic tournament matches. There are three tournament matches scheduled at the time of this writing and one NXT Cruiserweight Championship match scheduled. With NXT TakeOver less than two weeks away, it is shaping up to have some pretty interesting matches scheduled for it. Once both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments draw to a close, could a championship match be on tap for the winners? On top of this, we also will see whether or not Curt Stallion will get the better of Santos Escobar. This is the WWE NXT Preview for 2/3/21.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Quarter Final Match
Legado Del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza) vs. Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado)

As the quarter-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic moves on we, have seen a brewing rivalry between these two teams take shape. Fans have witnessed the growing animosity between Legado Del Fantasma and Lucha House Party. With every moment that seems as though LDF has the advantage at any point and in any match, Lucha House Party has been there to put a stop to it quickly. This time around, however, the stakes are higher.  A win will lead to one team advancing in the tournament, with the other one left to wonder what could have been. Is this the night Legado Del Fantasma finally is able to rid themselves of the threat of Metalik and Dorado?

Dusty Rhodes Women’s Tag Team Classic Tournament Semi-Final Match
Dakota Kai & Raquel González vs. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter

Another match further in the women’s Dusty Rhodes Classic tournament pits the underdog pairing against another pair of formattable foes. The duo of Carter and Catanzaro pulled off a shocker as they defeated Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez in the tournament’s first round. It was during that match where fans witnessed a remarkable finishing move from the top rope. As they move onto the next round of the tournament, Carter and Catanzaro will be hard-pressed to defeat the duo of Kai and González. González & Kai have had success together for some time. Carter and Catanzaro will need to use their speed to their advantage if they hope to advance to the finals or face defeat at the hands of Kai and González.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Quarter Final Match
Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Roderick Strong)

Another of the quarter-finals matchups in the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is scheduled to take place. The unlikely duo of Thatcher and Ciampa face the all too familiar duo of Cole & Strong. It would certainly be a shocker to have the unlikely tandem of Thatcher and Ciampa walk away victorious. But it’s very much a possibility. For the simple fact that Lorcan and Burch are just as easily one’s to get involved and cost the Undisputed Era a chance at a win and advancing in the tournament. Ciampa and Thatcher will need to put any differences aside and once again come together and oust the Undisputed Era. A couple of different scenarios could play themselves out.

    NXT Cruiserweight Championship
Santos Escobar (c) vs. Curt Stallion

The time for talk is over, and the time to put up is here. Stallion is ready to step up to the plate and make Escobar eat his words. For Escobar, he will need to do more than just talk a big game. He’ll need to avoid the strikes of Stallion. It will be a case of ensuring the rest of Legado Del Fantasma don’t get involved in this match as well. Escobar will need to lean on his craftiness and ability to find a victory from the jaws of defeat in order to work out a win. For Stallion, he’ll need to overcome any potential obstacle that could cause him to be defeated. Who walks out of NXT as the NXT Cruiserweight Champion?

    Edge is coming to NXT!

In a tweet sent earlier on Tuesday, Edge shared his plans for the following day.  Like any supportive partner he comes, he’ll show their spouse their support at work. What they typically don’t do, however, is come and work in their place of work. This is the case for Edge as he comes to NXT for the very first time. Depending on what publication we are reading, we could see anything from a match to simply an announcement or declaration. Regardless of what it may be, fans are chomping at the bit to see the Rated R Superstar in this week’s edition of NXT.
