The upcoming episode of WWE NXT 2.0 for 7/26/22 features three matches for the show. While more is slated to take place, the question that is being asked is how do the new creative changes for the Raw and SmackDown program trickle down to NXT 2.0? But until those questions are answered, we are left to ask about this week’s show and what these results will mean.

On tap, we have the returning Apollo Crews to face Xyon Quinn, Wes Lee against Grayson Waller, and an eight-man tag of rival factions. Of the three matches scheduled, one has to wonder if an old yet familiar face could make a return to settle a score? But, who are we referring to? Let’s check out the preview to see who were alluding to.

    Apollo Crews vs. Xyon Quinn

Crews role in NXT appears to be one to help elevate other talent. However, with him being there, it would be great to see him also be a threat for a title in the process. So while that appears to be undecided in the long term, in the short term, it appears as though Crews will help elevate talent. The latest man to step up to him is Xyon Quinn. Quinn himself’s role appears to be all over the place.

We aren’t sure if he’s moving up the roster or simply trying to find his footing. But, if anything is certain in this match, it will be a truly athletic matchup between too stockier talents with a fun moveset.

    Grayson Waller vs. Wes Lee

Of any of the matches announced on the night, this has the potential to be the one that stands out for all the right reasons. If we are in Waller’s place, one has to wonder what the future holds for him and how serious he can be taken. While being the man that had a someone newfound ‘legend killer-esque’ persona, he would benefit if someone he left laying was to return.

As hinted at earlier, with Triple H taking over as the head of creative for the Raw and SmackDown brand, it would be fun if someone considered a ‘Triple H guy’ in Johnny Gargano was to return. He departure in December and subsequent relationship being a positive one with Triple H and Shawn Michaels does usher in the chance to return as a conquering hero to exact revenge against Waller.

Diamond Mine vs. The D’Angelo Family

Tony D’Angelo’s ascent to the top of NXT has been a slow but steady climb. With the numbers now on his side and his ‘family’ growing, it is time to firmly plant his flag in the ground as the premier faction in NXT. Fans have often seen decention within Diamond Mine under Roderick Strong’s leadership. Too often, there have been times when Strong has used ‘tough love’ against the Creed Brothers and Kemp.

Eventually, there will be a time when enough is enough, and the rest of the faction puts him in his place. But, unfortunately, that lack of camaraderie amongst the Diamond Mine could well be what does them in.

    What To Expect

    • Does Cameron Grimes align himself with Joe Gacy and his faction?
    • Mandy Rose and Cora Jade to address Zoey Stark’s winning of the number one contendership for the NXT Women’s Championship.
    • Carmelo Hayes to address upcoming contenders for the NXT North American Championship.
    • What will JD McDonagh do in his pursuit of the NXT Championship and Bron Breakker?
