Kelly: We’ve finally made it to Las Vegas. The Road to WrestleMania ends here at Allegient Stadium. It’s a little odd to have WrestleMania on Easter weekend, let’s hope it is just a one off deal. Let’s dig into the matches.
Marc: As Kelly mentioned above, the car has finally parked as the road to WrestleMania has finally reached its destination.
Over the next two nights, the WWE will present matches featuring the promotion’s biggest names, with likely the most important outcomes that will give the company direction leading into the rest of 2025.
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
GUNTHER (c) vs. Jey Uso
Kelly: Jey Uso pulled off the shocker of all shockers when he eliminated John Cena to win the 2025 Royal Rumble, instantly punching his ticket to WrestleMania.
Uso picked GUNTHER, to get one more opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship, after losing to GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
GUNTHER has been getting the upper hand on Uso at every turn, will this be no different? Will Uso become the Main Event and finally wrestle the title away from GUNTHER?
Marc: As Kelly so clearly stated Jey picked GUNTHER for his world title match. But when he did, would he have known that it wouldn’t have main-evented WrestleMania in the process?
What has been interesting to see on the part of GUNTHER is how he has consistently tried to get into the head of Jey Uso. He has beaten Jimmy Uso, shared that Jey just can’t handle the expectations that are ahead of him
It has been an emotional challenge for Jey to have to climb as WrestleMania approaches but the question is will he be able to overcome that obstacle?
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
Naomi vs. Jade Cargill
Kelly: Naomi was revealed as the attacker who put Cargill on the shelf at Elimination Chamber. Now, Cargill is out for her revenge.
Will she get it? Will the veteran Naomi have the last laugh? Was Naomi the only person involved in the attack on Cargill?
Marc: Kelly hit the nail on the head with Cargill seeking her revenge. But if Naomi’s evil metamorphosis hasn’t been a breath of fresh air to see, then what is?
Gone are the days of simply being a passenger on this road to WrestleMania, is Naomi. She has worked too long and too hard to be an afterthought.
One has to wonder if this match will be a one-off or not, and will a loss here hurt either woman? For Jade this would be her officially branching out on her own and for Naomi it was the new change in character direction. Let’s see what happens!
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
War Raiders (c) vs. New Day –
WWE World Tag Team Championship Match
Kelly: The New Day did what Adam Pearce asked them to do several weeks ago, earn a World Tag Team championship match. New Day is actually getting a rematch from a couple of weeks ago on Raw.
Will New Day recapture their past tag team glory? Will the War Raiders just add New Day as another notch in their belt?
Marc: Someone not listen to a directive from Adam Pearce, you don’t say? But here we are an easily one of the most notable teams in the WWE that have been reinvented and on a course to recapture the WWE World Tag Team Championships is front and center.
The New Day’s progress as heels has been mixed, and that hasn’t been because they haven’t delivered compelling promos; it’s more about who they have faced.
With no disrespect to the LWO, they can only engage in matches long enough before something else comes along that they can sink their teeth into.
Compared to SmackDown, the Raw tag division doesn’t seem very rich. War Raiders, New Day, LWO, American Made, and possibly Judgment Day hardly create for several options for teams to explore.
Could this be the night we see New Day recapture tag team gold or does an old face reappear in this match much to their dismay or to prove their undeying admiraton for HIS New Day brothers?
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano
Kelly: After American Made had issues with the LWO, Chad Gable sought out a way to defeat the luchadores. Shortly after Gable’s return, a new luchadore, El Grande Americano, appeared on the scene.
Did Gable learn that to defeat the luchadores, you must become one? Could El Grande Americano be somebody else? Will Mysterio figure out the true identity of this new luchadore?
Marc: Over the past few days, videos have circulated showing marks on Chad Gable’s body and people being certain that he is El Grande Americano.
So, while the people at Starbucks sue for residuals from the use of the name, will it be the night that we see him unmasked? That is if in fact, El Grande Americano is a man!
Fine, let’s go for argument’s sake with the fact that El Grande Americano is in fact a HE, that man in fact Chad Gable?
While it could be a certainty fans could get swerved with someone that doesn’t resemble Chad on this night and wears the mask, doesn’t physically resemble him, and commentary is more on how different El Grande Americano looks.
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
United States Championship Match
LA Knight (c) vs. Jacob Fatu –
Kelly: Fatu recently won a #1 Contender’s Match on Smackdown to earn this title opportunity. Knight has had his issues with the Bloodline in the past.
Fatu has seemingly not been on the same page as his other Bloodline teammates. Will that factor into the outcome?
Will LA Knight topple the unstoppable Samoan Werewolf? Will Fatu run over Knight and bring gold back to The Bloodline?
Marc: KELLY….LET ME TALK TO YEAH! (Always wanted to say that). Fatu is all gas and no brakes, steamrolling ahead in his collision course match-up with LA Knight.
With as much hype and promise behind Jacob, anything less than a championship win would be a surprise. His presence, purpose, past championship accomplishments before coming to the WWE, and having to surrender the Tag Team title to Tonga Loa all suggest his time is now.
As the son of Sam Fatu (the former Tonga Kid and Tama in the WWF), Jacob can do things others his size can only marvel at. WrestleMania may be the night when not just one Fatu walks out victorious.
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
WWE Woman’s Championship Match
Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair –
Kelly: Your 2025 Royal Rumble winner, Charlotte Flair, picked the young upstart, Tiffany Stratton, for her WrestleMania opponent. They’ve been going back and forth at each other in recent weeks.
Flair is coming back from a long layoff due to injuries. Will that factor into the match? Will Flair continue to reign supreme as the Queen? Will Stratton dethrone the Queen and ascend into the role as the new Queen?
Marc: Kelly’s preview may be the most diplomatic one you will read anywhere today. There are so many things that have called the build-up to this match into question.
From their banter, to what was said between them and how it was said. The biggest hope is this match elevates the emerging start while still allowing the established star’s spotlight to be preserved.
The hope is that the match results in a better exchange between them than the lead-up has. In saying that neither Kelly nor I were in either of the competitors’ DMs or had experienced a personal relationship dissolving during the writing of this preview.
WrestleMania 41 Night 1
CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
Kelly: Not only does CM Punk get his ultimate WrestleMania moment by main eventing Night 1, he will do so with Paul Heyman by his side.
If you look at the history of these three, Punk brought The Shield to WWE, and Rollins destroyed The Shield by turning on Reigns.
Heyman has been a fixture at Reigns’ side for the past couple of years. Will Punk win his first-ever main event? Will Reigns reclaim his spot at the head of the table? What does Rollins have up his sleeve? Where will Heyman’s allegiance lie after the match?
Marc: Kelly mentioned some important details heading into this match. The role of each man a decade ago has essentially come full circle.
While the footnote of Reigns not being who Punk initially had in mind for the third member of the group (it would be Chris Hero aka Kassius Ohno in NXT), the fact that they are all coming together is a poignant statement being made here.
The question of whether or not Punk will win his first-ever main event would be a nice moment. But of any match on the card is anyone here really hurt with a loss? All three are cemented in the company’s long-term plans.
They will either contend or compete for the company’s top prizes, so a loss doesn’t take that away. What will be interesting is what Reigns and Heyman’s relationship will be like after WrestleMania.
Also, will we see a long-standing feud between Rollins and Punk? That story could have alot of other elements included in i. Time will tell.
