Empire State Wrestling continues its annual tradition of hosting a benefit for the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Department this Saturday when it holds Spring Smash 3 at Medina High School.
This will be the third consecutive year a ESVFD wrestling fundraiser will be held at the local high school. Prior charity events were held at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds located in Albion, N.Y. The first of these was held in 2018.
“This is the 5th year (excluding the COVID years) that we’ve had the privilege of hosting this fundraiser with ESW,” said ESVFD event organizer Ryan McPherson.
“They’ve done an amazing job of providing world-class entertainment, while helping us maximize our fundraising efforts.
The ESW team deserves so much credit for the work they do in the community and for community organizations like ours.”
The main event will feature ESW Heavyweight Champion “Invincible” Vince Valor defending the belt for the first time since recapturing it in November.
Empire State Wrestling presents Spring Smash 3
“Big League” John McChesney will challenge Valor for the title. The match comes after the two fought on opposite sides of a three-on-two match in March, in which McChesney’s team took the win.
“Courageous” Christina Marie will put the ESW Women’s Championship on the line at Spring Smash 3. She retained the title against newcomer Pegasa in March.
She will take on another fresh face to ESW in her next opponent “Miss Desirable” Eden Grey. Grey is a regular in the Central New York wrestling scene.
Grey spoke about their upcoming bout in this video:
A triple threat match is scheduled for the ESW Interstate Championship. Current champion “The Holy Hand Grenade” James Sayga will face “Red Hot” Vinnie Moon and “The Shot” Cal Keaton in the matchup. Sayga defeated Edge of Hope’s Mattick in March.
At the same event, Moon teamed with Will Calrissian to beat High Seas and Keaton locked horns with “Buckwild” Tommy K.
“Buckwild” will compete in singles action again, with his opponent being Cloudy from High Seas. Tommy K speaks in this video about his upcoming match at Spring Smash 3:
Cloudy’s partner in High Seas, “Your Captain” Nick Ando, will also be in action. Ando will face “Your Boy” Matt McCoy.
Last month, McCoy took part in a triple threat match against Edge of Hope’s Cerin Rahne and CXR’s Chael Connors. Unfortunately for McCoy, he was brutalized after the match by Groff.
In tag team action, Edge of Hope’s “The Unstoppable Force” Jeremiah Richter and “The Gashed” Darren Crowe will take on Starburst (Keenan Moore and Kenny Star). Richter and Crowe beat the team of Brennen The First and MSG in March.
Moore last appeared in ESW in the Everything To Gaine Rumble last July. Star’s most recent ESW appearance was at an ESW Keystone event last August when he defeated Keaton in a singles match.
Brennen The First will take on the returning “His Royal Freshness” Frank Feathers. The last ESW appearance for Feathers was in the ETG Rumble.
Rounding out the Spring Smash 3 card will be appearances by Medina native “A Cut Above The Rest” Gavin Glass and “The Filthy One” Maxx Cannon. Glass teammed with Valor last month against McChesney and ESW Tag Team Champions High Seas.
Meanwhile, Cannon recently returned to ESW action in March at an ESW Keystone event. He teamed with Kayda Cyn against Groff and Jack Isaac. Cannon also self-proclaimed himself “The King of Medina”.
