Marc: After a brief hiatus, Kelly and I are back once again to preview a rather short but quickly becoming a tradition with Saturday Nights Main Event for 07/12/25.

As of this writing, only three matches have been announced, but with the wizardry that can be wrestling, even a broom handle may be introduced to do battle if need be.

While no broomhandles have been booked at the moment, nothing is really out of the realm of possibility this week.

Kelly: Live from Atlanta! It’s Saturday Night! Cue SNME intro. The fortieth edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event is the second event in a tripleheader of events in Atlanta.

NXT’s Great American Bash is Saturday afternoon, Saturday Night’s Main Event is Saturday night, and Sunday night’s WWE Evolution PLE rounds out the excitement in Hotlanta.

Our main event will be the most significant match in SNME history since Hogan/Andre 2, Bill Goldberg’s retirement match.

The WWE Hall of Famer calls it a career in his hometown in front of his friends and family. Let’s dive right in, shall we?

    LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins

Kelly: For the second time in his career, Seth Rollins finds himself as Mr. Money in the Bank. Not only does Rollins have a Wise Man, Paul Heyman, by his side, but he also has Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker at his side.

Reed and Breakker helped clear out the competitors in the Money in the Bank ladder match so Rollins could secure the briefcase.

One of those competitors, however, was the megastar LA Knight. Knight is out looking for retribution. On paper, Knight is going into this outnumbered, 3 to 1.

Fortunately for him, Rollins and company have been making more enemies than friends lately. Could that enemy list come back to haunt Rollins?

Will Rollins and his crew continue to steamroll over everyone? How many more times does Heyman have to say “Roman Reigns” before he pulls a Joe Hendry and appears?

Marc: Much like Kelly mentioned above, Seth is once again a Mr. Money in the Bank. But he doesn’t have a wise man by his side, but rather an ORACLE! Which, truth be told, is a pretty cool moniker that can speak Spanish too!

But while on paper Knight is outnumbered, that doesn’t mean others won’t find their way in this match as part of the run card! Where does CM Punk or even Roman Reigns fit in during this match?

A complete steamroll doesn’t seem likely, but having to battle numbers could be a challenge. But what happens if the numbers are balanced? Could there also be dissention in the ranks of this Empire?

Kelly: Say his name, and he appears. I believe in Joe Anoa’i.

Marc: With a dramatic mid-ring spin turn pose? We could get behind that!

Kelly: Orton pulled it off, I’m sure Roman can too.

Marc: But will you acknowledge that?

    Kelly: Yes, my Tribal Chief

Saturday Night’s Main Event for 07/12/25
    Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton

Kelly: Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre have been going back and forth the past couple of years, revisiting their rivalry every so often.
McIntyre returned last week on SmackDown to interrupt a face-off between the new King of the Ring, Cody Rhodes, and Orton.
McIntyre correctly pointed out that Orton hesitated at Night of Champions, which cost him the match and the opportunity to become the King of the Ring runner-up for the second year in a row.
Orton didn’t hesitate this time and dropped McIntyre with an RKO from outta nowhere on Smackdown. The match is made, and these two finally square off in the ring.
Marc: A friend of mine would often say that John Cena and Randy Orton would fight each other until they are in wheelchairs in an elderly care unit.
Would the frequency of McIntryre and Orton’s longstanding battles run a similar course? While not completely likely, there does seem something fresh about this that Kelly referred too.
Orton’s hesitation was his downfall and exactly what McIntyre is using against him as this match is set to take place.
The difference here, though, is that Orton likes Rhodes; he couldn’t care less about McIntyre. What happens here when there is reason to hesitate? Kelly won’t hesitate in his response, right?
Kelly: That’s a good analogy and sums this up nicely.
Marc: See, I told you he wouldn’t hesitate. It’s like it came outta nowhere!
Kelly: Just like a viper striking its prey. Or, just like a viper striking a Scotsman.

Saturday Night’s Main Event for 07/12/25
    World Heavyweight Championship
    GUNTHER (c) vs. Goldberg

Kelly: Not only is Gunther next, he’s also last. This will be Goldberg’s swan song. His last match to get a measure of revenge on Gunther for disrespecting him and his family.

What a better place to do it than in his hometown. The conquering hero slaying the mighty bully for his family. What a great story.

But conventional wrestling wisdom says that you put your opponent over on your way out the door. What if Goldberg actually beats Gunther and wins the title?

Now, we have a conundrum. Will Goldberg keep his word and retire as champion? Will he stay and defend the title and retire once he loses it?

Will Seth Rollins have his goon squad wipe out Goldberg so he can cash in putting the world back on the right path? We know Mr. Money in the Bank will be in the house that night.

Could there be a cash-in? Will the cash-in be successful? Rollins has made some enemies in CM Punk and Roman Reigns recently, and what better way to pay Rollins back than by costing him the title. Afterall, SummerSlam this year is two nights and Night One needs a main event. Let the unpredictability begin.

Marc: If I channeled my inner Bret Hart, then the analysis for this match would be skewed, but that won’t be the case. Kelly is correct in saying that this is Goldberg’s swan song, but swans are typically graceful and elegant; Goldberg’s dance is more like a flamingo, really.

Don’t worry, there’s a compliment in there somewhere, promise. At least that’s what Bret Hart told me. Goldberg wants to get a measure of revenge on Gunther, but I don’t know what that would look like without the Ring General literally carving through Goldberg’s chest.

Predictions of Gunther losing have floated about but Rollin’s cashing in at the end of this match has also floated about.

Yes, conventional wisdom suggests that hometown heroes often succeed, and even Trish Stratus retired despite capturing the title.

Goldberg seems like a man of his word. He has put over past champions in the past, such as Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, and Brock Lesnar. The fact that his final match is at home is what he likely wanted.

Kelly: Goldberg event hinted it to Michael Cole a couple of weeks ago when he asked, what if you win the title? Goldberg gave a non-committal answer to the question.

I like the fact that there are like five or six ways this match could go, and GUNTHER retaining is not a foregone conclusion. It’s going to be a fun night in the ATL.

Marc: It feels like a bait-and-switch type of tactic to suggest that he’ll continue to compete if he wins the title. Stranger things have happened, but this ‘last match’ appears to have been a promise that Vince McMahon made to Goldberg and something TKO was going to honor.

Interestingly, there’s a belief that he could continue, but after seeing his recent matches, it’s concerning whether he should.

Kelly: That’s a pretty solid card. I’m sure Smackdown will announce another match or two. Maybe feature the white hot Smackdown tag division? We will definitely see the end of an era when Goldberg retires for good. This will be a very memorable night.

Marc: For three matches, on a show that will likely be an hour and a half that seems to make sense. Will there be contract signings or something unexpected, possibly? Just give us more Jesse Ventura pointing out how flawed faces are, and it will make for a good time.

Kelly: Perhaps they are leaving some time for Goldberg to say goodbye

Marc: Where can the people reach out to you, Kelly? Where can they scream Yeah or sing your song, or call you an American Warrior, or have you throw an KKO (Kelly KO, btw) on them, err…spear them, or get chopped by you?

Kelly: Twitter is @ciscowebwiz76. I was more of a Razor’s Edge kinda guy.

Marc: For Kelly Dishnow, this is Marc Dishlater…err Madison saying Saturday Nights alright for fighting, especially if you’re watching people in spandex pretend to hit each other.
