On Saturday, December 14th, from Long Island, New York, the WWE presents Saturday Nights Main Event 2024. With the return of SNME, so brings the return of Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura. Ventura, for those unaware, was a mainstay on the WWF’s commentary team alongside the likes of WWE Hall of Famer the late Gorilla Monsoon.

A show featuring Jesse Ventura’s return also brings about notable matches that elevate feuds and include championship matches.

WWE Women’s United States Championship Finals

Kelly: On this week’s edition of Smackdown, Bayley faces Chelsea Green, and Michin faces Tiffany Stratton in the tournament semifinals. The winners of those two matches will square off the following night to crown the very first WWE Women’s United States Champion

Who will advance to the finals for a shot to become the first champion? Will Bayley add another championship to her championship resume? Could Stratton be both Women’s US champion and Miss Money in the Bank? Could Michin or Green play spoiler?

Marc: Like Kelly mentioned above, the final four women could offer a number of different opportunities. Of the four, it will be interesting to see who makes it to the finals. While nothing is a certainty until we see it all transpire on Saturday, who could make up the final two could be a refreshing result.

    Saturday Nights Main Event 2024
    Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre

Kelly: Drew McIntyre recently returned after a brutal Hell in a Cell match with CM Punk at Bad Blood. McIntyre attacked Sami Zayn upon his return to Raw.

Zayn suspects that McIntyre also attacked Jey Uso on the same night. Can Zayn gain a measure of revenge? Will McIntyre return to his winning ways? Did McIntyre actually attack Jey Uso?

Marc: In an act that seemingly came out of nowhere, Drew McIntyre’s attack on Sami Zayn had a purpose. But that attack didn’t make sense until the following week when we heard from Drew about why he did what he did. Like Kevin Owens and his disdain for Roman Reiegns, Drew McIntyre’s anger towards Reigns hasn’t subsided either.

What was remarkable about all of this was that of all those involved in Survivor Series: War Games, he was the least critical of CM Punk. But McIntyre’s emerging feud with Zayn has as much to do with Drew’s issue with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline as it does with  Zayn himself.

Does it matter who between them comes out on top or does it matter leading into either man’s changes in the Royal Rumble?

    Saturday Nights Main Event 2024
    WWE Women’s Championship match
Live Morgan (c) vs. IYO Sky

Kelly: Sky won the women’s world championship number one contender’s battle royal a few weeks back on Raw. Her opportunity comes at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Sky had an impressive showing in WarGames at Survivor Series against a team captained by Liv Morgan.
Sky’s team won WarGames, will her title match have a similar outcome? Will Morgan pull out the win? Will Judgment Day or Damage CTRL figure into the outcome?
Marc:  This match-up pits two women who have either held the championship or are now the champion. What has made this match so interesting is that it hasn’t rested on simply leaning on the Morgan/Ripley feud to carry them forward.
Fans are likely to see a match showing how talented IYO SKY is once again as she challenges for Morgan’s title. However, although SKY is challenging for the title, it doesn’t mean we believe that she walks out the champion.
    Or does it?
While predicting a loss for Morgan doesn’t seem all that possible, it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. With Ripley wanting to have Morgan feel the same disappointment that she’s faced, a loss at the hands of Rhea Ripley could prove to be a big moment with the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

    Saturday Nights Main Event 2024
    WWE World Championship
GUNTHER (c) vs. Damien Priest vs. Finn Balor

Kelly: Finn Balor thought he had it all figured out. He cost Damien Priest the title at Survivor Series before goading Gunther into a title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

After a Judgment Day attack on Priest on Raw, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce added Priest to the match to make it a triple-threat championship match.

Can Gunther overcome the odds and continue as World Heavyweight Champion? Can Priest recapture the title? Will Balor steal the title? Can Judgment Day not get involved int the match?

Marc:  The Priest and GUNTHER story was missing something. And that something was Finn Balor. While Judgment Day doesn’t have a ‘leader’, there is no denying Balor’s role in the group. There is a clear chain of command, and Balor has clearly assumed that role.
Damien Priest is in pursuit of the title that he was cheated out of. In the case of Balor, he is in pursuit of the title that would finally put him as the face of the brand. Finally, for  GUNTHER, he continues to aspire to show that he is the true Ring General in the WWE.

    Saturday Nights Main Event 2024
    WWE Undisputed Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Kelly: Kevin Owens gets another shot at Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship. Owens attacked Rhodes at Bad Blood. Randy Orton tried to play peacekeeper, but Owens took Orton out a couple of weeks ago on Smackdown with a piledriver.

Rhodes is now out for revenge for both the attack on him and Orton. Will he keep the Undisputed WWE Championship? Will Owens be able to one-up Rhodes and capture the championship? Could Orton make an appearance?

Marc:  How could these two go from such great friends to such bitter enemies in the course of two years? It’s quite simple: Don’t betray Kevin Owens, especially if he is…right. That has been the entire motivation behind this feud between the two of them.
Owens was fed up with Rhodes teaming up with the one person who caused him as much grief and frustration as Roman Reigns. KO’s emotions had reached a boiling point and the result was absolute chaos. Could this feud simply end with an apology? It isn’t likely.
But the bigger question is what lies ahead for Owens after Saturday Night’s Main Event. With speculation circulating that his contract status is being kept hush-hush, what is a priority for him and the company? Will the match result really dictate his future?
