As the road to the Royal Rumble continues, so does the preparation for Saturday Night’s Main Event as we preview Raw in Advance for 01/20/25.
At the moment, not very much has been announced outside of a pair of matches and the return of a former WWE champion and WWE Hall of Famer.
But with Saturday Night’s Main Event next Saturday, January 25th, and the 2025 Royal Rumble two weeks away, matchups are likely to be finalized.
We learned that Jey Uso will challenge Gunther for the WWE World Championship as one of the key matchups to look forward to between the two on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
But will the two have another confrontation ahead of the show? GUNTHER will likely want to instill doubt in Jey’s mind before their match.
Wrestling is as much a psychological game as it is physical, and playing into Main Event, Jey’s self-doubt could very well be a factor. But what else is slated to take place on this week’s show?

WWE Hall of Famer JBL
For WWE fans, it may seem like it’s not uncommon for notable names from the company’s past to be involved in the current product.
But when we dig a little further, we may see that JBL’s inclusion in today’s landscape goes a little further. Those who follow social media may be aware that JBL has popped up in different promotions over the past few months.
He has come, hit a clothesline from hell, or quietly spoken to someone who he is in the ring and walked away. Whether in GCW or TNA, JBL has been actively seen in different promotions.
Draped in a cowboy hat, long black trenchcoat, and cowboy boots, JBL would appear. But his reasoning for doing what he has is yet to be explained.
Will he answer why he’s been appearing where he has been answered on this night? With the WWE’s recent announcement of their continued relationship with TNA, JBL has been a notable figure on their program as well.
He has been involved in their main event title, particularly their TNA World Championship picture between Nic Nemeth and Joe Hendry. What will happen this week in the latest edition of Raw on Netflix?

New Day Return to Action
Even the @WWEÂ X handle is having fun with this as they begin it by saying ‘we’re sorry’ is humor that writes itself. The commitment in these two being disliked is very real.
Whether it be Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston being confused about why they are being disliked, to the reminder of their reaction to Big E a few weeks ago, the statement ‘New Day Sucks’ seems to be ringing loud and clear for those in attendance.
Over the past few weeks we have seen New Day engage in altercations with Rey Mysterio and the LWO to that with American Alpha, to even Final Testament’s Karrion Kross pleased with the change in attitude.
But upon writing this, who New Day is facing still remains to be seen. Whoever it is would need to be someone that fans would get behind enough so that they don’t want Woods and Kingston to be victorious.
Presently, the Raw roster features the likes of American Alpha, LWO, Final Testament, Judgment Day, and War Raiders. But of those teams, who makes the most sense to elevate New Day in the process?
The Champions, War Raiders, Final Testament, and Judgment Day all appear preoccupied with other things, thus narrowing it down to either American Alpha, the LWO or possibly a local team that has yet to be announced.

WrestleMania Rematch
Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre
In a match that came about last week, it will be the visionary and the warrior battling one another one more time. What has been billed as a WrestleMania Rematch (this past WrestleMania), the stakes aren’t nearly as high.
There is no championship on the line. The winner doesn’t qualify for a championship match. What ultimately is gained by having this match?
It could be said that nothing can be gained because there isn’t a stipulation. But what these two have in common is an animosity toward CM Punk.
Or do their issues actually with another ‘Paul Heyman guy’? While Rollins has been adament in wanting to slay the beast and control that Roman Reigns has had, so has Drew McIntyre.
What is confusing in all this is the inclusion of CM Punk. This match may ultimately be all smoke and mirrors and deflect to something resulting at the Royal Rumble.
Punk has said he wants to win and go on to the main event, WrestleMania. Seth and Drew both have won the Rumble, but the same cannot be said about CM Punk. Does Punk play a role in this match as we preview Raw in Advance for 01/20/25?
What to Expect:
- Discussion of the upcoming moderation and amendment signing on Saturday Night’s Main Event between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes.
- More entrants declared for the Men and Women’s 2025 Royal Rumbles
- Do we hear from Roman Reigns for the first time since recapturing the Ula Fala?
