For the NXT 2.0 preview for 9/28/21, four matches were announced. In recent week’s it’s been rare that much is announced in advance of the following week’s program. While the amount of wrestling dropped dramatically since the show moved from its original format to this one, it will undoubtedly be a work in progress. Will the amount of in-ring action increase from last week to this week?

With as many as three of the four announced matches being championship matches, it is clear that they are attempting to up the action. We will also see the honeymoon of Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell. One can only imagine what hijinks will result from their vacation away together. Here is the NXT 2.0 preview for 9/28/21.

    NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Io Shirai & Zoey Stark (c) vs. Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne with Mandy Rose

Over the past few weeks, even before NXT transitioned from the black and gold to the brightly lit set, Dolin and Jayne were turning heads. The former Priscilla Kelly and Avery Taylor of Toxic Attraction have brought a dark yet sensual set of characters that have caught the attention of their competition. As the weeks pass, the more cohesive Toxic Attraction appears, the more dysfunctional Shirai and Stark appear. It isn’t for lack of effort, though, on the part of Stark.

Despite their appearing to be a lack of unity on the part of the champions, it isn’t to say they don’t manage to put it all together when it counts. For Jayne and Dolin to be given a championship opportunity here says a lot about where management sees these two women on the roster. They went from simply appearing to be characters with similar attributes to being a trio with an invigorated Mandy Rose in such a short time.

    NXT Cruiserweight Championship
    Roderick Strong vs. Grayson Waller

From the moment he walked out, there had to be a collective, ‘who’ when Grayson Waller appeared. It likely may not have been met with such a peculiar response, but it certainly was something. Waller showed a true desire out there when he challenged the new NXT Cruiserweight Champion. Grayson Waller is undoubtedly moving up from appearing the week prior by Drake Maverick’s side at ringside to challenging Roderick Strong for the NXT Cruiserweight Champion.

With the benefit of having Malcolm Bivens at his side, Strong has to simply focus on going in the ring, representing the Diamond Mine, and breaking bones. Waller’s confidence, while it could be commended, is likely to be made an example of to any challengers for Strong’s NXT Cruiserweight championship on the program. Strong has come a long way during his time in NXT. The former NXT North American and NXT Tag Team Champion can now add Cruiserweight Champion to his list of achievements.

    NXT Women’s Championship

    Raquel Gonzalez vs. Franky Monet

Monet has years of experience behind her. For Raquel Gonzalez, it is about adding names to her list of championship wins. While it would be great if we could see a match where Monet comes out looking dominant and potentially a threat in the future with nothing settled, that may not be the case. That said, there is a chance that Robert Stone once again inadvertently costs her this match. If anything, this match could also be the tipping point in the working relationship between Monet and Stone.

He already appears to be on thin ice. Monet appears to have Jessi Kamea ready to make the jump with her. If anything happens that compromises a potential win for Monet here and Stone is likely on the outside looking in. Whoever it is that defeats Gonzalez will have to be dominant. This is why Monet’s chance of being victorious is less likely. This is very well where Kay Lee Ray formally enters to challenge the NXT Women’s Champion.

    No Disqualification Match
    B-Fab vs. Elektra Lopez

As the two females of their respective factions, these two women are sure to come at each other quite hard. Very little is known about either B-Fab or Elektra Lopez during their time in NXT. However, if Lopez looks familiar, fans may remember her as the ‘ex-wife’ of Bobby Lashley during the infamous wedding between Lashley and Lana. Lopez is a second-generation wrestler who has competed in Ring of Honor along with various other promotions. However, for B-Fab, the WWE is her beginning.

This feud will be important for positioning both women within their respective factions and in the NXT 2.0 women’s division.
