For the NXT 2.0 preview for 10/12/21, three matches were announced. With each of the matches announced, there is something different attributed to each of them. Additionally, with each of them, those involved have different motivations tied to them. First off, the tag team matched announced is a grudge match, but on one side, one team will be split, and the other is learning how to trust each other. The second match is for the NXT North American Championship, where the current champion is less likely to join the SmackDown brand with the title.

Finally, Tommaso Ciampa is granting Joe Gacy a chance…at an opportunity. If Gacy can defeat Ciampa on this week’s edition, he will join the NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc. Who settles scores on this night? Who walks away wondering what could have been? And who walks out as the NXT North American Champion? Here is the NXT 2.0 preview for 10/12/21.

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner vs. Ridge Holland & Pete Dunne

The words grudge match best describe what these four men have awaiting them. While Kyle O’Reilly has asked Von Wagner to stay out of his business, Von Wagner continues to help him out. After receiving another attack at the hands of Dunne and Holland, Von Wagner came out to the aid of O’Reilly and helped him clear the ring of Holland and Dunne. As a result, von Wagner was the man that was presented with an opportunity to capture the NXT Championship. Although the result wasn’t what Wagner had hoped for, the opportunity presented to him was still there.

Through all of this, Holland and Dunne appear to be reaching this brief rivalry with O’Reilly and Wagner after this evening. Holland has been drafted to SmackDown, so the likeliness of him continuing on to further this feud is unlikely. However, could fans be in store for a swerve to take place after the match?

Isaiah “Swerve’ Scott (c) vs. Santos Escobar

Of the matches announced for this coming edition, this one has the most appeal to some. With the NXT North American Championship on the line, so likely will be the rivalry between Hit Row and Legado del Fantasma. So while Scott and company are pleased at moving to the SmackDown roster, the same can not be said about LDF. Escobar could bring this feud to an end with an empathic win. Fans are assured that it will involve all members of both factions. However, with Hit Row moving to SmackDown, the NXT North American Championship isn’t likely to accompany them.

While there have been several instances where NXT champions have still held that title (Kevin Owens & Karrion Kross) and appeared on either Raw or SmackDown, this doesn’t appear to be one of those instances. Therefore, it is a perfect opportunity to have Escobar capture the title making for a smooth transition in having Ashante, Top Dolla, B-Fab, and Scott move to SmackDown.

    Tomasso Ciampa vs. Joe Gacy

Although the match is a non-title match, it certainly does have a championship implication tied to it. As mentioned in the heading above, if Gacy defeats Ciampa, he will be added to the upcoming NXT Championship match between Tommaso and Bron Breakker. Gacy’s very accepting persona’s debut begs the question as to what will be his breaking point. At what point will the ring not be his safe space?

The question is a valid one as the week’s pass win or lose, Gacy has embraced the results of the match one way or another.  Their bout is sure to be a stiff, hard-hitting affair. Gacy’s arrival is a far cry from his time competing in deathmatches. On this day, Gacy has the opportunity to walk into NXT 2.0 as a potential championship threat and walk as a definite championship contender.

    What to Expect
