NJPW STRONG Collision in Philadelphia rolls into its third week with the NJPW STRONG Synopsis for 6/25/22. As always, we will see the young lions of the LA Dojo mix it up with the stars of NJPW. This week brings us a night of singles action with a little taste of things to come in the G1 Climax tournament. But more than that, we will see “Mr. No Days Off” Fred Rosser challenge “Filthy” Tom Lawlor for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship for the final time.

Here’s the NJPW STRONG Synopsis of what you can expect this Saturday night on NJPW World and FITE TV.

    David Finlay vs Danny Limelight

“The Rebel” David Finlay steps into the 2800 Arena in Philadelphia to face the loudmouth of Team Filthy, Danny Limelight. Finlay has been striking out on his own since the dissolution of his tag team with Juice Robinson, and he’s hoping to make a splash in the upcoming G1 Climax tournament. Meanwhile, Danny Limelight would have all the more reason to sing his own praises if he scored an upset victory over the former IWGP Tag Team Champion.

Will David Finlay score another win in his journey to re-define himself? Or will Danny Limelight score a win to support his massive ego?

    Minoru Suzuki vs Tony Deppen

The City of Brotherly Love better get ready because The Man With The Worst Personality In The World is coming to town. Minoru Suzuki returns to 2800 Arena for a promising match with Tony Deppen. With two competitors so gifted in the arts of striking and grappling, this match could become a 20-minute clinic on pro wrestling. And considering the mean streaks of the two men involved, this truly is a match worthy of the old ECW arena. But can Tony Deppen topple Minoru Suzuki in the middle of his hectic worldwide schedule?

This week’s main event features the finale of the most intense rivalry in NJPW STRONG history. The Rosser/Lawlor rivalry began back on the 15th episode of NJPW STRONG back in 2020, when “Filthy” Tom Lawlor defeated “Mr. No Days Off” Fred Rosser in just over 11 minutes. They met again a year later in the climax of NJPW STRONG Detonation, with Lawlor winning by referee’s decision after 24 1/2 minutes.

Despite both matches being contenders for the NJPW STRONG match of the year, Rosser’s need to defeat Lawlor has only grown.

Over the past year, Fred Rosser has repeatedly demanded a championship match with Tom Lawlor, only to be shot down. The Filthy One racked up title defenses while placing obstacles in Rosser’s way. While Tom Lawlor was becoming the longest-reigning current champion in NJPW, Rosser was fighting for dignity in handicap matches or being forced to shave his own head.

Lawlor wants to carry the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship into the G1 Climax, but he wanted one last title defense before he did. He offered that shot to Fred Rosser, on one condition: If Rosser loses, he must retire. Will Tom Lawlor walk into G1 Climax with the belt in tow? Or will “Mr. No Days Off” suddenly find himself with Saturday nights off?
