You read that right, folks; we have a Star-Studded Special in store this Saturday on STRONG as preview NJPW STRONG Synopsis for 7/31/22! And who are those stars who warrant such alliteration? Why none other than “The Ace of New Japan” Hiroshi Tanahashi and the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion “Switchblade” Jay White!

Not only do we have the two biggest stars in NJPW in action, but also the new NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion, Fred Rosser! And if that’s not enough championships for you, there’s also the semifinals of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships. All that and more in this special 4-match card in this week’s NJPW STRONG Synopsis!

    Jordan Clearwater vs Jeff Cobb

This Saturday’s opening match will see Jordan Clearwater step into an NJPW STRONG ring for the first time in 2022. The last time NJPW STRONG fans saw Jordan Clearwater was last September, teaming with Keita Murray in a losing effort against BULLET CLUB.

While Clearwater shows much potential in his young career, he has yet to capture a singles win on STRONG. He certainly has his work cut out for him, as his return match sees him face off with United Empire’s Jeff Cobb.

The heavy-hitting Hawaiian currently stands at 1-0 in the G1 Climax, and he’ll be looking to keep that momentum as the tournament grinds on. A win over Cobb would be just the ticket for Jordan Clearwater this Saturday night on STRONG.

    Fred Yehi vs BATEMAN

Also, this Saturday night, we will see a grudge match between Tyler Bateman and “The Savageweight” Fred Yehi. Back in the Rivals series, Yehi and his fellow Young Lions Keita and The DKC scored a major win over Bateman and Stray Dog Army. Following that match, Bateman demanded a change of focus for his faction.

Since then, Barret Brown and Misterioso have been on a tear through the LA Dojo’s tag team ranks. Evidently, Bateman’s plans for Stray Dog Army have been fruitful. But will that be the case when he faces Fred Yehi? Or will the Savageweight’s suplexes and submissions subdue the sinister Tyler Bateman this Saturday?

Stray Dog Army (Barret Brown & Misterioso) vs Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)

Speaking of Strays, they’ll be strutting into the second semifinal match in the STRONG Openweight Tag Team Title Tournament. Their opponents this Saturday will be Mark Fletcher and Kyle Davis of Aussie Open. Fletcher & Davis’s track record in the UK and US indie scene make them the odds-on favorites in this match.

However, last week saw a major upset when Yuya Uemura and “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels defeated TMDK. I certainly have my suspicions we’ll see a similar situation on Saturday when Stray Dog Army take on Aussie Open.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kevin Knight, & Fred Rosser vs BULLET CLUB (Jay White, Chase Owens, & Hikuleo)

History is made this Saturday night as NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser teams up with Kevin Knight and The Ace of New Japan Hiroshi Tanahashi to take on BULLET CLUB! For the first time ever, the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion shares a ring with the NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion.

“Mr. No Days Off” Fred Rosser will be looking to impress in this dream match as he teams with Tanahashi. However, one wonders if the significance even registers to “Switchblade” Jay White, as the G1 Climax likely weighs heavier on his mind. Along with the “Summer of Switchblade,” White has an existing rivalry with Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Will Jay White and Chase Owens continue their winning ways, or will Rosser, Knight, and Tanahashi take advantage of BULLET CLUB’s arrogance to capture a win? Find out in this history-making star-studded six-man main event this Saturday night!
