PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerilla) announced through their website and social media the upcoming SIXTEEN tournament. The event will feature the latest edition to their annual series much like the Battle of Los Angeles. The promotion also announced that tickets for said event will be available in less than a week as of Thursday, June 20th at 8 pm PST.

In a series of tweets, PWG announced the matches listed for SIXTEEN. These matches include; Flip Gordon vs Trey Miguel, MJF vs. Darby Allin, Black Taurus, Laredo Kid & Puma King vs. Bandito, Flamita and Rey Horus, Jungle Boy vs. Joey Janela, Brody King vs David Starr, The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) vs. Best Friends (Trent Beretta and Chuckie T), and LAX (Santana and Ortiz) vs The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier) in a Ladder Match for the PWG Tag Team Championships.

While additional matches could be still be announced leading up to July 26th date, what has already been announced is remarkable.

Madison’s Mindset: PWG continue to provide fans with event after event leading up to some of the most exciting wrestling action anywhere in the world let alone the southwest United States. One of the most exciting points to recognize about the event is how arguably three of the biggest promotions in wrestling today have talent that is part in this event as Ring of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling have talent involved in the event.

Whether or not contract exclusivity for some talent will take effect after this event or not (in particular AEW talent) doesn’t appear to be a concern as all parties had to have had consent to participate in SIXTEEN. These remain exciting times for independent talent and PWG continues to be among the promotions at the forefront of the action in 2019. PWG’s twitter prior to June 3rd hadn’t advertised any event since May 22nd and before that April. A number of events could have been in the works leading to very quiet social media on the promotion’s part.

As a wrestling enthusiast for over 30 years, my fondness for professional wrestling explores the irrational in a rational way. I will explore the details inside and outside the ring and hopefully have a laugh with you in the process. I've had the fortune to interview wrestlers from Lucha Underground, TNA, Ring of Honor, GFW, and former WWE talent as well. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @TheMarcMadison
