Former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose has inked his first official job since leaving the company. It was announced in an article by Andreas Wiseman of Deadline that he has been cast in a new film. This will be his first movie endeavor since the WWE Films production 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown.
Jon Moxley is the name he’s reverted back to on social media, Jonathan Good in real life. Good has been cast in the film Cagefighter. This is an MMA-based movie. It is the “story of a lauded MMA champion who unexpectedly loses a heavily promoted match to a professional wrestling star making his crossover debut in the MMA fighting world. Humiliated by the defeat, he must fight his way back to the top and earn his place for a rematch.” according to Wiseman.
Other actors cast in the film are Josh Herdman, Michael Jai White, Gina Gershon, Michelle Ryan, and Jason Maza. Fighters from the MMA world slated to be in the film as well are Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre, and Alexander Gustafsson. It is executive produced by someone Good is very familiar with, fellow former WWE star, Jay Reso aka Christian. The film is directed by Jesse Quinones and other producers are Lorianne Hall, Shayne Putzlocher and Sara Shaak.
Wagner’s Way: Based on the star MMA fighters already cast in the film, I believe Good’s role is apparent. He would be perfect as the professional wrestling star making his MMA debut against the main character. This would play to his own natural strengths as a professional wrestler. Fans may be quite excited about the end result as Cagefighter is sure to generate a great deal of buzz on-screen.
