On Tuesday, July 21st, new IMPACT Tag Team Champions were crowned. On the heels of this past Sunday’s Slammiversary event, Ethan Page and Josh Alexander would defend their titles against a new challenge. After retaining their titles this past weekend, Alexander and Page would face a returning duo to IMPACT Wrestling. At Slammiversary, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley would return to IMPACT Wrestling. The Motor City Machine Guns would return to answer the open challenge set by The Rascalz, Zachary Wentz, and Dez Xavier. Sabin and Shelley and walk away triumphant in their return match.

That win would appear to set the stage for what was still to come. Shelley and Sabin would then challenge Alexander and Page for The North’s coveted IMPACT Tag Team Championships. What should be interesting to note was that The North was also in the midst of a 381-day reign as champions. The championship reign was the longest to date. It recently surpassed that of Taya Valkyrie’s reign as IMPACT Wrestling Knockout’s Champion. With both their consecutive day streak and IMPACT Tag Team Championships on the line, Page and Alexander faced MCMG.

The match itself was a back and forth affair. However, as the matchup was reaching its closing moments, it would only take 3 seconds to change history. As Ethan Page was attempting a dominator, it would Chris Sabin that would counter it. Sabin would counter the move into a small package pinning Page’s shoulders to the mat for a count of three.

With the win, Sabin and Shelley would end The North’s run as tag team champions. They would become two-time TNA / IMPACT Wrestling tag team champions as well. Whether it be singles as either X-Division or World Champion or tag team champions, Shelley and Sabin are no strangers to championship success. It was ten years ago when Shelley and Sabin were last TNA / IMPACT Wrestling tag team champions. It is incredible what can happen in a decade for both men. Congratulations to the new IMPACT Wrestling tag team champions.
