MSK has arrived as they capture the NXT Tag Team Championship. At NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, Dusty Classic winners Wes Lee and Nash Carter captured the NXT Tag Team Championships. In an incredible, hard-fought, hard-hitting match, the longest reigning PWG Tag Team Champions added another pair of titles. Certainly the most prestigious piece of gold they’ve earned yet in their short careers. Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado Del Fantasmo were no match for the youngsters. In a match that had the limited crowd buzzing, it was truly a moment to remember. These two competitors made a name for themselves, starting in Dayton, Ohio, together over the last five years. Wednesday night finally saw them realize their boyhood dreams.

    Boyhood Dream Realized

MSK (FKA the Rascalz) have lit up the indie wrestling scene for years. After capturing The Wrestling Revolver, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and All American Wrestling tag titles and performing all over the world, their potential was never argued. They competed against certified stars such as Sami Callihan, Pentagon El Zero M, Rey Fenix and even captured the PWG tag titles from the Young Bucks. They also had a successful run in IMPACT! Wrestling as a part of the trio “the Rascalz” along with Trey Miguel.

After signing a development deal with WWE’s development brand NXT, their hype reached an all-time high. With the mystery participants of the 2021 iteration of the Dusty Classic being announced as none other than MSK, their stock only rose higher. Featuring former winners such as Samoa Joe and Finn Balor, winning the tournament is a huge accomplishment. Unsurprisingly, depending who you ask, MSK did exactly that. In one of the most impressive debut runs in NXT history, Nash and Lee won it all.

All that said, with this win, they’ve officially made their mark in the history books. In a truly electric match, there were some memorable spots. One saw Carter landing a burning hammer to the floor while Lee hit a double-stomp from the apron. Another of the many dramatic moments came when Nash Carter prevented his partner from tapping out. While trapped in a submission applied to his previously injured arm by Zack Gibson, Wes Lee was obviously injured. Unfortunately, James Drake had Carter locked into a submission of his own. As the injured Lee was preparing to tap out, Carter grabbed his arm, preventing it from hitting the mat. Though after hitting their finisher on James Drake, it was academic.

The live crowd in attendance went absolutely wild as the two childhood friends shared an emotional moment, hugging while grasping their new championship titles. From working food service in Dayton, Ohio, to winning the NXT Tag Team Champions on WrestleMania weekend, they certainly will never forget this moment. Eventually, history may look back on this as the first of many wins in an all-time great career. But for now, MSK and their friends and family are surely enjoying this win as they capture the NXT Tag Team Championship.
