In the press release, Executive VP Scott D’Amore commented on his relationship with Mauro Ranallo. “I’ve known Mauro for over two decades,” D’Amore said. “There are very few people in the world who are as passionate about or know their wrestling history as well as Mauro. This is an historic main event, the world champions of two major organizations putting everything on the line. I’m thrilled that fans will have Mauro’s legendary voice proving the soundtrack to history!”

As part of his working relationship with IMPACT Wrestling, Mauro provided the voiceover for the “Five Ways To Win” promotional videos. In the videos, Ranallo outlines the paths to victory for Kenny Omega and Rich Swann, respectively, at Rebellion.

    Who Is Mauro Ranallo?

Mauro Ranallo is a sports announcer from Abbotsford, British Colombia. He began his career in broadcasting at 16, working for NWA All-Star Wrestling in Vancouver. He would also call the action for Top Ranked Wrestling and even the legendary Stampede Wrestling. Mauro Ranallo rose to prominence as a martial arts commentator, working for King Of The Cage, PRIDE Fighting Championships, and EliteXC, among others. In 2015, he returned to the world of Pro Wrestling, initially providing English commentary for NJPW. On December 15th, 2015, Ranallo joined SmackDown! as the new Play-By-Play commentator.

Mauro Ranallo To Commentate At Rebellion

Ranallo had a turbulent career with WWE, stemming from his own clinical depression. This lead to a 4-month absence from the company in 2017. On June 22nd, WWE announced that the two parties had come to a new agreement that would see Ranallo joining the NXT broadcast team. He remained a part of the NXT commentary booth until August 31st, 2020.

Along with his work in combat sports commentary, Mauro Ranallo is also a staunch advocate for mental health and awareness.
