Welcome to ¡Esto es Lucha!, the place to learn all about the different promociones (promotions) of Lucha Libre! Here we have news from CMLL, The Crash, AAA and NLL.

    PROMOCIONES

    CMLL

Last Wednesday it was shared by CMLL Informa through Liger’s video that the Japanese legend will return to Arena Mexico’s Cathedral. This is part of his retirement tour. This legend gave us tremendous matches when he appeared in Mexico over the years. I want to share some of the most important matches that he had. In 1996, Liger had a match for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title against Dr. Wagner Jr, but he was defeated. He defended the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Shocker in 1999. In 2009, he had two important matches, both of which he lost. One was against Ultimo Guerrero for the CMLL World Heavyweight Title. The other was against Mistico or Caristico for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. The next two years were the most important, as he had many matches. In 2010 he won the Campeonato Universal CMLL Tournament against La Sombra or Andrade.

He was part of the main event of 77 Aniversario Show. Liger again defeated La Sombra, and won the CMLL World Heavyweight Title. The last time we had the opportunity to enjoy his abilities was in 2011. Liger lost the Leyenda de Plata Final against Volador Jr. He also teamed with Hijo de Fantasma to win the Torneo de Parejas. Liger  defeated Texano Jr for CMLL World Heavyweight Title, and later lost it to Dragon Rojo Jr. It’s been almost eight years since he last competed in Mexico, and he will once again be in Lucha Libre’s Cathedral on July 19th. We must thank him for his career, especially for his experience and teachings that he shared in Mexico.

On June 21, it was time for the Viernes Espectaculares. This event was highlighted by the Copa Dinastia Final and the return of the faction, El Clan.

The semifinal match was between Los Guerreros Laguneros against El Clan. El Clan was formed by Ciber, Ricky Banderas or Gilbert el Boricua and The Chris. All of the three falls were full of energy and hate by the two factions. In the last fall, Ciber hit Ultimo Guerrero and El Clan got the victory. Before the match, Ultimo Guerrero told Ciber that they had something to finish and challenged him to a hair vs hair match. Next Friday, these factions will again go face to face in Arena Mexico.

The main event was the Copa Dinastia Final between the Chavez Brothers, Angel de Oro and Niebla Roja, and the Muñoz Family or Los Ingobernables with Rush and Bestia del Ring. Almost all of the match was dominated by Los Ingobernables. In the first fall, they had the victory by pinning the Chavez Brothers. The second fall was also dominated by Los Ingobernables. They did everything they could and hit them with whatever they wanted, until Rush hit Niebla Roja with a cable. This caused Los Ingobernables to be disqualified.

It was intense, and the crowd was divided. The final fall had a spot by the Chavez Brothers where they hit them in the middle of the crowd. Rush was distracted by the crowd, and Angel connected with a low hit and pinned Rush to get the victory. It was weird, the referee saw that blow, but he didn’t care and counted to three. Congratulations to the Chavez Brothers, but Los Ingorbernables will not cross their arms and seek revenge.

    THE CRASH
    The Crash

The Crash has announced that on July 5th, the little man who became a one big, the creator of 619, Rey Mysterio will come back to his town. The WWE star will be there Friday night in Tijuana to do a meet and greet. Stay tuned to the Pro Wrestling Post as we will have more updates on this event.

Also, they announced that Las Parks would come to The Crash, L.A. Park and Hijo de L.A. Park. Last year, they had his last match against Fenix. Now, who are the contenders to La Familia Real?

The Crash has announced that an “Angel” would appear too. It has been confirmed, two members  ofRebelion Amarilla, now NXT stars, will appear as well. They are Angel Garza and Lacey Lane. They too will be doing a special meet and greet.

For its part AAA, they held a conference where they confirmed their plan to expand in the United States. They want to give more opportunities for fans to get to know their product. So they have announced a second American show date.

We don’t want to forget that the first event is AAA invading New York City in September at Madison Square Garden. The second place that has been selected is LA; AAA will return to this city after 25 years. They held their first event there, When World Collide. Now, they return on October 13th in LA’s The Forum.

    NLL
    Image / twitter.com / @NacionLucha

Nacion Lucha Libre has announced that their first card has changed. This situation is because of some luchadors have contracts with other companies. They didn’t get the permission to work with them. They have booked Las Parks, Bandido, Matt Sydal and they announced a surprise luchador. The most important part of their event is that two of the most important legends in Mexico, Tinieblas and Dos Caras, will receive an acknowledgment. So we hope for all the success for NLL and that they will learn from these situations. The positive is that we have another promocion to watch Lucha Libre in Mexico.
