DDT TV Show Series Max Bump Postponed

DDT had planned to use minimal staff and talent on the shows but Tokyo’s closure request has made it difficult to book venues to film at. Instead, the company will postpone filming in order to prioritize the health and safety of staff and talent.

The first episode on April 12, Max Bump 2020 in Shinjuku FACE, had a four marquee matches already announced.

However, Shinjuku FACE announced the closure of its venue until May 10 today.

The partial card for Max Bump 2020 featured:

    • KO-D Openweight Championship: Masato Tanaka (c) vs. Yukio Sakaguchi
    • DDT Universal Championship: Daisuke Sasaki (c) vs. Antonio Honda
    • KO-D Tag Team Championships: Naomi Yoshimura and Yuki Ueno (c) vs. MAO & Mike Bailey
    • Kazusada Higuchi vs. Tetsuya Endo

The event would have been Tanaka’s third defense of the KO-D Openweight Championship.

Sasaki’s first defense of the DDT Universal Championship and Yoshimura and Ueno’s fourth defense of the KO-D Tag Team Championships.

Tanaka won the KO-D Openweight Championship from HARISHIMA at Sweet Dreams! in January. Since then, he has managed two successful defenses against MAO at Into The Fight in February and Konosuke Takeshita at Judgement in March.

Despite the senior age of both competitors, Max Bump 2020 would have only been the second singles match between Tanaka and Sakaguchi.

The two men’s first meeting was in DDT’s D-Oh Grand Prix tournament in December last year. Tanaka was victorious after 11 minutes.

The promotion will announce a new start date for the DDT TV SHOW Max Bump series after being postponed.
