After a night full of major announcements and moments, NXT is back for another week of action on the USA Network! And what will happen on a week of pure battle royale across the entire black and gold brand? Two big matches will determine the next contenders for the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Championship! This is Coming Up NXT for 9/23/2020, Battle Royale!

    Proving Ground

While Tomasso Ciampa has only been back for only a few weeks, he’s done more in that time frame to reawaken the Psycho Killer within since he first arrived in NXT. But that return came at a cost of upstart Jake Atlas who Ciampa used as a crash test dummy in and out the ring last month. But after Ciampa attempted to assault another victim last week, Jake Atlas returned to interrupt the former NXT Champion with a challenge.

Jake Atlas make the challenge, William Regal made the match. Atlas faces Tomasso Ciampa in what is sure to be Jake’s biggest match in his short career. Will Atlas use this match as a stepping stone and show why he belongs on the black and gold brand? Or will Ciampa turn Atlas into just another victim as he plows through the men’s division? And what will be  Kyle O’Reilly, who inadvertently interrupted a parking lot beatdown, involvement?

    Run The Gauntlet

General Manager William Regal decided to create this unique match. The match that will forever be remembered in NXT – The Gauntlet Eliminator Match. Two men start and every four minutes a new superstar enters. Eliminations happen by pinfall or submission. And for this new match, gains a new opportunity. The man who wins this match becomes #1 Contender to face Finn Balor at NXT Takeover!

Announced for this match, former NXT Tag Team Champion, the aforementioned Kyle O’Reilly. The new KUSHIDA, Cameron Grimes, and Timothy Thatcher. With the possibility of a 5th man being added too. The field is already decorated with some of the most top tier talents on the brand. So who will get the shot at the Prince at Takeover? Will it be the ever-confident Cameron Grimes? The new bruising attitude of KUSHIDA? The man who flirted with title opportunities for weeks now in Thatcher? Or the normally tag star now turned singles competitor Kyle O’Reilly?

    Top Dog

In the words of Hip-Hop star Lil’ Tecca, it’s about to be a royal rumble with these ladies. William Regal has made it clear that he wants a new #1 Contender for Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship. With the next Takeover in a few weeks, the temperature may be turning up for the Genius Of The Sky.

In what should be the surefire main event for this edition of NXT, 11 women will get a chance to become the next contender for the top prize in the women’s division. The competitors: Kacy Catanzaro, breakout star Indi Hartwell. Robert Stone Brand’s Aliyah, the evil Dakota Kai. The Poison Pixie Candace LeRae, the former #1 contender Tegan Nox. The woman who stood up to the Champ last week in Shotzi Blackheart. The towering Raquel Gonzales, Kayden Carter, Xia Li, and the former champion Rhea Ripley.

All of these women, in some shape form, or fashion, have made an undoubted case to be the new challenger for the title. But with Takeover around the corner, only one can be the next woman up. So many stories heading into this epic battle. Will Dakota Kai reply to Raquel to once again be the #1 woman? Will Robert Stone help his client to a title shot? Can Blackheart get another shot at the champ after an impressive 1 on 1 match last week? Or will Ripley finally get her shot at the title to once again become the Nightmare of the NXT Women’s division?

    It’s Time To Takeover Again

And of course, all these battles will lead to another epic NXT Takeover event announced for Sunday, October 4th! So who will Io Shirai face after the big #1 Contenders Battle Royal this week? Who will be next to approach the throne to face the Prince for the NXT Championship?

And while we’re focusing on titles, will Santos Escobar finally have a worthy opponent to challenge him for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship? Fresh off their tag team title retaining win, will Breezango find out who will be the next tandem to face them for the gold next?

That was Coming Up NXT for 9/23/20! We will find out who will step up to the plate and look to cement their names in history as challengers after the smoke clears in an all-out battle royal this week! Tune in Wednesday to another jam-packed edition of NXT, only on the USA Network!
