Freelance Wrestling offered big opportunities this past Friday night in Chicago! The Lucky Punks event featured a card full of career-making matches. Both Warhorse and Effy defended and retained their respective titles at Lucky Punks. Warhorse and Kobe Durst and Alex Zayne went to war for the Independent Wrestling championship, but there was a surprise coming! AEW’s newest star Colt Cabana joined the title match, making it a four-way fight. Effy took on challenger Mark Wheeler for the Freelance Legacy championship. The ‘Golden Gun’ proved to be a worthy competitor, but Daddy got the victory in the end.
Fatal Four-Way for the Independent Wrestling Championship: Warhorse vs. Alex Zayne vs. Kobe Durst vs. Colt Cabana
Warhorse continues to prove he’s the hardest-working Independent Wrestling champ ever. Both Alex Zayne and Kobe Durst have made huge strides on the independent scene in the past year. Giving both men a title shot in a three-way dance seemed to put Warhorse in a tough position. As if the odds weren’t stacked enough, the surprise of the show came when Colt Cabana appeared as the fourth competitor in the match! Colt recently made headlines as AEW’s newest talent (all-in with the elite!) and a title win here would have made his 2020 even more solid. However, Warhorse came through with a successful title defense once again. Having bested some of the best known and greatest names in independent wrestling, Warhorse clearly is ready for a one-on-one challenger (known or unknown) who can test him beyond his limits!
Freelance Wrestling Legacy Championship Match: Effy vs. Mark Wheeler
This past Friday night, it was time for Daddy to defend his Legacy title against the Golden Gun! As the show was titled ‘Lucky Punks’, this match was an opportunity for Mark Wheeler to define his career even further. A win against Effy would mean more doors opening for Wheeler in the future as a title-holder. If you’ve seen Effy at work, though, you know he would never make things that easy!
Wheeler and Effy went to battle in this memorable match that had the balance of power going back and forth much of the time. If you’re not familiar with Wheeler’s work, be sure to catch the replay of this show on IWTV. The man’s got one hell of a future in wrestling! Effy was the star of the match, however, keeping his beloved fans both entertained and thrilled all the way to the end. Effy’s victory along with Warhorse’s win made for two successful title defenses out of three championships on the line at Lucky Punks! Congratulations to Warhorse and EFFY at Lucky Punks.
