This week’s preview of AEW Rampage for 8/5/22 comes on the heels of an exciting edition of AEW Dynamite leading up to Quake by the Lake. It features two matches, with both having AEW championships on the line. Fans will also be privy to the debut of a former TNA/IMPACT Knockout Champion making her debut and noted independent talent making their Rampage debut.

Will Stokely Hathaway continue to add to his roster of talent as he did this past week with Ethan Page and last week with Lee Moriarty? Here is our AEW Rampage for 8/5/22 preview as the company prepares for the following night’s Battle of the Belts 3 show.

    The Debut of Madison Rayne

In a press release this past week, AEW shared that Rayne will be joining AEW Staff. Here is the excerpt sent out about her signing.

Madison Rayne (Ashley Nichole Lomberger) will join AEW as a coach in the women’s division and kick off her new role tonight in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Madison has competed in numerous professional wrestling promotions where she has held multiple championship titles, including 5–time Women’s World Champion. She has more than 15 years of experience in professional wrestling and is also a proud mom to a daughter.

Rayne’s addition will only help to strengthen the AEW women’s division. While she is more than capable of competing, it appears at the time of this writing that her role will strictly be that of a backstage one. So what does she have to say this coming Friday on Rampage about joining AEW?

Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Tony Nese and Josh Woods with Smart Mark Sterling

As Swerve in our Glory is set to put their AEW Tag Team titles on the line, a question about their opposition is being asked. Who is the technical beast, Josh Woods? Fans unfamiliar with Ring of Honor towards the company’s closure likely missed out on the talents of this former Pure Champion in the company. A former winner of the ROH Top Prospect tournament, Woods brings with him a solid amateur wrestling pedigree with him to All Elite Wrestling.

He appeared on screen when he was shown standing over the lifeless body of Keith Lee backstage as Swerve Strickland was forced to look on from the ring. What will be in store for the AEW Tag Team Champions as they face Tony Nese and Josh Woods?

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Mance Warner

On the heels of winning a Bunkhouse Battle Royal at the Ric Flair’s last match event, Warner made his debut during an episode of AEW Dark this past week. That match then led to the announcement of the Southern Psychopath’s AEW World Championship contest this Friday night against Jon Moxley. While Moxley has his match with Chris Jericho on tap next week, it is this week where he will stand across the ring from a modern-day brawler.

For anyone that is unaware of Warner, he carries with him traits that are reminiscent of a modern-day Stone Cold Steve Austin with a twist that also embraces elements of deathmatch wrestling as well. Warner may not be everyone’s wrestler of choice, but the reaction he generates from those in attendance cannot be ignored. Will this match lead to other opportunities for him, or will this be a short-lived run for him in the company? Only time will tell.

    What To Expect

    • The Young Bucks address Hangman Page and the attack by reDRagon and Adam Cole
    • Upcoming championship matches for Battle of the Belts 3 to be discussed
    • Further, follow up on the Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks growing feud.
