Is there a better way to spend New Year’s Eve than to watch an episode of AEW Dynamite as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 12/31/25 ?

On this holiday night, AEW will have their traditional “New Year’s Smash” show. It is a card filled with a lot of big matches.

We have an AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match, an AEW National Championship match, and a TBS Championship match as well. It should be a fun way to end 2025!

Let us learn more about this special card in Omaha in the latest edition of AEW Ignite.

We’ll Hear From New AEW World Champion MJF

At AEW Worlds End, MJF was able to pin Samoa Joe to win the AEW World Championship. At AEW Worlds End 2023,

MJF lost the championship to Samoa Joe. It came full circle to see him win the title back at Worlds End 2025. The two-year journey to win back the World title was now complete.

At New Year’s Smash, we will hear from MJF. What will he have to say after winning back the title? And will he insult Omaha, the location of this week’s show? We think we know the answer to the second question already.

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Josh Alexander
    (AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match)

Jon Moxley proved he was one of the best, defeating Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada at Worlds End this last Saturday night.

This won him the 2025 Continental Classic and the AEW Continental Championship. An emotional Moxley celebrated the fans and the rest of the AEW wrestlers in a speech post-match.

But he will receive no rest on Wednesday night. Jon Moxley will face Josh Alexander in a Continental Championship Eliminator Match. If Alexander wins, he will receive a future title shot.

It will be fought under Continental Rules, which means no outside interference. But Josh Alexander is dangerous without the rest of the Don Callis Family. It will be quite the test for Moxley on Wednesday night.

    Ricochet (c)
    vs. Jungle Jack Perry
    (AEW National Championship)

During the World’s End Zero Hour, a huge eight-man tag team match occurred between JetSpeed & Jurassic Express versus Josh Alexander & The Demand. The end of the match was a shocking one when Jungle Jack Perry pinned Ricochet.

After the victory, Jungle Jack Perry challenged Ricochet to his AEW National Championship. Ricochet, wanting revenge, accepted the challenge.

This will be Ricochet’s fourth defense of the AEW National Championship. It will be his toughest test to date. Can Jack Perry make Ricochet’s reign a brief one?

Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Willow Nightingale
    (AEW TBS Championship)

Mercedes Moné is having a bad couple of weeks. She lost her chance at the AEW Women’s World title shot. She lost her ROH Women’s World Television Title. She even lost her Undisputed British Women’s Championship.

But it got worse for Mercedes at AEW Worlds End. She was pinned by Willow Nightingale in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship match.

Moné had a big meltdown backstage and challenged Willow Nightingale to a TBS Championship match at New Year’s Smash.

Moné originally won the AEW TBS Championship over Nightingale at Double or Nothing 2024. Mercedes has held the title for over 580 days now. What if she loses it back to Willow at New Year’s Smash? The meltdown just might be one for the ages.

    What To Expect:

    • What is next for AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander?
    • Will we hear from former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe?
    • Will we learn any more matches for Maximum Carnage?
