Welcome to the latest edition of AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 12/16/20! It was a chaotic ending to AEW Dynamite last week. The impact of the big “Winter is Coming” show was felt for sure. Let us see what they have in store for us in this week’s Dynamite.
Sting to Appear Live
Sting was involved in a memorable promo last week with Cody Rhodes. Cody tried to find Sting’s true motive for appearing in AEW. Sting, always the mystery, didn’t give much away last week. We only know he isn’t around to challenge Cody Rhodes just yet. It is time again for him to appear live on AEW Dynamite. What will he have to say this Wednesday night? And will we finally learn Sting’s plans?
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 12/16/20
SCU vs. The Acclaimed
The Acclaimed has started to make a name for themselves on AEW Dark in recent weeks. On last week’s AEW Dynamite, they tried to harass the Young Bucks. SCU stopped them from doing so. Now they get a chance against the veterans of the great AEW tag team division.
Can The Acclaimed make a true name for themselves against SCU? It is likely the biggest match of their career. They have been impressive but going against Daniels and Kazarian is a whole different level.
Cody Rhodes vs. Angelico
Cody Rhodes showed the ultimate respect last week when he shared the ring with one of his heroes, Sting. He called him “sir” on multiple occasions. In return, Sting called Cody Rhodes “kid.”
On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Cody gets back into in-ring action. He seems to be distracted by the disrespect shown to him by Sting last week. Can Cody focus on the always dangerous Angelico? If he doesn’t, he could be in store for a major upset.
Hangman Page, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds vs. Matt Hardy & Private Party
John Silver and Alex Reynolds, the Dark Order Recruitment Specialists, have been pushing Hangman Page hard to join the group in recent weeks. Hangman Page seems lost after all his recent losses at major AEW events. He couldn’t possibly join the Dark Order, right?
He will fight in a big six-man tag match with the Dark Order members on this week’s show. They will face the dangerous team of Matt Hardy and Private Party. Can the new team possibly beat the truly dangerous trio? It will be fun to find out on Wednesday night.
Serena Deeb & Big Swole vs. Ivelisse & Diamante
The AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup winners have looked dominant in tag team action in recent months. They will get a huge opportunity on Wednesday night against the NWA Women’s Champion, Serena Deeb, and Big Swole. Can Deeb and Swole work together well against such a dangerous and established team? We know a loss for Deeb could set up Ivelisse and Diamante for future NWA title shots. The stakes are truly high on Wednesday night.
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 12/16/20
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, MJF, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana, Ortiz, and Wardlow) vs. The Best Friends, Top Fight, The Varsity Blondes, and Brandon Cutler.
Last week’s main event between Orange Cassidy and MJF ended in a very chaotic fashion between the Best Friends and The Inner Circle. It is time for a huge fourteen man tag team match on Wednesday night based on those events. With this many competitors, it will be something truly fun.
While The Best Friends’ team might be the more inexperienced team, they have far fewer conflicts going into the match. The Inner Circle, especially Sammy Guevara and MJF, have been in conflict in recent weeks. Can the Inner Circle get on the same page and defeat seven truly motivated competitors?
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 12/16/20
Kenny Omega (c) vs. Joey Janela (AEW World Title Eliminator Match)
Kenny Omega has been a busy competitor in recent weeks. Since winning the AEW World Championship at AEW Winter is Coming, he has appeared on Impact Wrestling twice. He even defended his AAA Mega Championship at the AAA TripleMania pay-per-view last week. It is time for Omega to return to AEW action against one of his oldest rivals.
Joey Janela fought Kenny Omega in some brutal hardcore matches in 2019 on AEW Dynamite and AEW Dark. He was supposed to fight Kenny Omega in the first round of the World Title Eliminator Tournament a few months ago. Janela had to withdraw because of COVID quarantine. He will get his chance yet again on Wednesday night. It will be a No Disqualification match. Can “The Bad Boy” pick up a major victory and get a future World title shot? We know both competitors will pull out all the stops in this brutal match.
