On the heels of the two California shows, AEW Dynamite is heading to Kentucky as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 1/25/23! The fans in Kentucky get the card of two big tag team matches, a huge three-way match in the improving AEW Women’s Division, another TNT Championship match and another match in the impressive Bryan Danielson series.

And we even have a very special match to honor Jay Briscoe. Let us find out more about this emotional show in Lexington in the latest edition of AEW Ignite.

JungleHook (Jungle Boy & Hook) vs. Ethan Page & Matt Hardy

On last week’s AEW Rampage, Jungle Boy was able to defeat Ethan Page. It wasn’t without controversy because Matt Hardy distracted his “teammate” and cost Page the match. It instantly led to the tag team match this week.

The match could come down to which team is actually on the same page. JungleHook won their previous tag team match and seem to work well together. Ethan Page has humiliated Matt Hardy for weeks since getting his contract. He has embarrassed Matt over and over again on AEW Dark: Elevation and AEW Dark. Can Hardy and Page possibly co-exist? If they can’t, they could be facing another humiliating defeat.

Britt Baker vs. Toni Storm vs. Ruby Soho

It is time for a huge three way match in the AEW Women’s Division. All three competitors are coming in with some major momentum.  Could the winner be in line for a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship?

Britt Baker has been a loyal teammate to AEW Women’s World Champion Jaime Hayter. Ruby Soho is coming off a victory in a bloody Street Fight on a recent AEW Rampage. The wildcard is Toni Storm. Toni and Saraya surprised the AEW crowd by attacking Willow Nightingale after Storm’s match with her last week. Will the new, vicious streak help Toni Storm pull off the important victory on Wednesday night?

Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti & Ricky Starks

It has been a frustrating time for the Jericho Appreciation Society in 2023. Chris Jericho has suffered clean losses to Action Andretti and Ricky Starks. Jake Hager also lost to Ricky Starks. And Daniel Garcia lost to Action Andretti on last week’s AEW Rampage. Can the JAS turn things around in this increasingly personal feud?

On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara get their hands on Andretti and Starks. Le Sex Gods have had a lot of success as a team in recent months. But you cannot deny Starks and Andretti have gotten under the skin of JAS. Will the Jericho Appreciation Society’s frustrations continue? It would be fun to see what happens if it does.

    Bryan Danielson vs. Brian Cage

It is time for match three in Danielson’s month-long series of matches. If Bryan can keep winning until February 8th then he will get an opportunity for the AEW World Championship against MJF at AEW Revolution. The first match was a brutal one against Konosuke Takeshita. The second match was a fast paced one against the talented Bandido. The third match is a whole different challenge.

Brian Cage will be Danielson’s opponent on Wednesday night. Cage’s athletic power game is nothing like Danielson has faced before. It also seems MJF is more concerned with hurting Danielson than seeing Cage win and he is willing to pay Cage to do so. Can Danielson survive the increasingly desperate MJF?

Darby Allin (c) vs. Buddy Matthews
    (AEW TNT Championship)

Darby Allin has brought back the TNT Open Challenge since winning the title in Seattle. He has defeated the likes of KUSHIDA, Juice Robinson and Mike Bennett in the short time he has had the title. He faces another difficult test on Wednesday night.

Since he has beaten House of Black members Malaki Black and Brody King before, he challenged Buddy Matthews to a match. Buddy Matthews is a truly talented competitor that just hasn’t had a lot of time to showcase his singles talent in AEW. It could be a special match in Lexington.

    Mark Briscoe vs. Jay Lethal

It will be a truly emotional match on AEW Dynamite. Jay Briscoe, one of the great tag team wrestlers of all-time, tragically lost his life on January 17, 2023. It was a shocking and upsetting moment for the entire wrestling community. Jay Briscoe was universally loved for his kindness and generosity to many wrestlers around the world. He will be truly missed.

After a brief tribute last week, we finally will have a special memorial match to honor his legacy on Wednesday night. On what would have been Jay’s 39th birthday, Mark Briscoe, Jay’s younger brother, will face off against Ring of Honor legend Jay Lethal. These two have had many memorable moments in Ring of Honor over the years. But having a match to honor Jay Briscoe? It will be a truly special and emotional moment in Lexington.

    What To Expect:

    • Will we get an update on Moxley?
    • How will Hikaru Shida react to Toni Storm and Saraya’s actions?
    • What will MJF do to stop Bryan Danielson’s winning streak?
