Prince Nana Will Provide An Update on Swerve Strickland

At AEW All Out, Swerve Strickland fought Hangman Page in a truly brutal Lights Out Steel Cage Match.

The match, shockingly, ended with Page using a needle on Strickland. It was followed by an uncomfortable chair shot to the head. It seemed Swerve would be out for a long, long time.

At Grand Slam, Prince Nana will give an update on Swerve Strickland. What will he have to say? Here is hoping we will receive good news about the former AEW Champion.

Mariah May (c)  vs. Yuka Sakazaki
(AEW Women’s World Championship)

Mariah May has spent the beginning of her title reign looking for Mina Shirakawa’s support. Mina has been hesitant to give support because of the violent and despicable actions of May in recent months.

But while May was looking at Shirakawa, another popular Japanese wrestler re-entered the title picture. “The Magic Girl” Yuka Sakazaki is back and fighting for the title.

Yuka Sakazaki has been on a hot streak since returning to AEW. Can she keep it going on the biggest stage possible? We know Mariah May will do anything possible to keep her title at Grand Slam.

Young Bucks (c) vs. Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher
(AEW World Tag Team Championship)

The former United Empire members Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher recently teamed together to win a Casino Tag Team Gauntlet match. This gave them a future tag team title shot. The future will be this Wednesday night.

Ospreay and Fletcher will face the Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Champion at Grand Slam. The Young Bucks have been controlling the titles since winning them at AEW Dynasty in April.

As members of the Elite, they certainly haven’t won their title matches fairly. Can Ospreay/Fletcher overcome the odds at Arthur Ashe? It could be a show stealer on a special night.

Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin
(Darby’s AEW World Title Shot is on the Line)

Jon Moxley has certainly shown a truly vicious side since returning to AEW after AEW All In. But I doubt even Moxley’s fans expect him to attempt to suffocate his former BCC ally Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out. Calling it a shocking betrayal is an understatement.

After AEW All Out, he turned his attention to Darby Allin. While he said he respects Darby, he demanded Allin’s AEW World Title shot. And not surprisingly, Darby accepted his title shot at AEW Grand Slam.

What will happen when they face off on Wednesday night? We know Darby Allin is willing to put his body on the line.

And with Moxley seemingly having no limits now, what will he possibly do? It could get vicious in a hurry at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Nigel McGuinness

Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness had arguably the greatest rivalry in Ring of Honor history. From 2006 to 2009, they had a series of epic, technical masterpieces against each other.

It seemed with Nigel McGuinness’ injuries and in-ring retirement, we would never see these two greats wrestle yet again. But never say never in professional wrestling.

Nigel McGuinness made a shocking in-ring return at AEW All In in the Casino Gauntlet match. It was his first match since 2011.

He looked great in the ring and it led to an obvious question: Would he challenge his old rival Danielson who he has mocked on AEW commentary the past few years?

Just days after AEW All Out, Nigel McGuinness challenged Danielson to a dream match at AEW Grand Slam. The problem is Danielson hasn’t been seen since the vicious attack at AEW All Out.

This hasn’t stopped Nigel from mocking the AEW World Champion. Will Danielson be cleared to wrestle on Wednesday night? It could be a special moment if these two greats can face off yet again in a wrestling ring.

What To Expect:

  • Will we begin to learn matches for WrestleDream?
  • Will we have any surprise debuts on AEW Grand Slam?
  • What titles will change hands on Wednesday night?
