This week, AEW Dynamite comes to us live from the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. All Elite Wrestling will kick off the month of April with not one, not two, but four championship matches as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 04/05/23. House of Black, Jamie Hayter, The Gunns, and Hook all defend their titles on Wednesday night.
In addition, we will hear from Blackpool Combat Club, The Acclaimed, Tony Khan, and Long Island’s own AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It’s an action-packed show on Wednesday night, and we have all the details here on AEW Ignite!

Sammy Guevara vs Komander
Fresh off his win over Konosuke Takeshita on last week’s AEW Rampage, Sammy Guevara must be itching for another high-profile victory. Similarly, Komander is coming off of a AAA Mega Championship loss to El Hijo Del Vikingo in the opening match of ROH Supercard of Honor last Friday night.
He’ll be looking to return to his winning ways this Wednesday night. Unfortunately for both these men, there can only be one winner in what promises to be an exciting lucha libre contest on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Ricky Starks vs Juice Robinson
On the March 8th episode of AEW Dynamite, Ricky Starks gave a promo on his victory over Chris Jericho at Revolution. However, Starks was rudely interrupted by BULLET CLUB’s Juice Robinson, who used the iconic entrance music as a distraction to attack Starks. Ever since, “Absolute” Ricky Starks has been chomping at the bit to get his hands on Juice.
It almost happened on the March 25th episode of Rampage, when Starks tore Robinson’s shirt. “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson used the torn shirt to escape into the crowd, but promised Starks a match the next time they were in “a real state, like New York.” Well, AEW Dynamite is in Long Island this week, and the last time I checked, that’s a place in New York.
Will “Absolute” Ricky Starks get his much-awaited revenge on “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson?
Will The Acclaimed join the Jericho Appreciation Society?
Despite their AEW Tag Team Championship loss to The Gunns on February 8th, The Acclaimed haven’t cooled off that much. Indeed, Anthony Bowens, Max Caster, and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn are still in high demand in AEW.
Recently, they’ve caught the eye of one Chris Jericho, who looks to add a championship-caliber tag team to the ranks of his Appreciation Society. This Wednesday night we will hear from the former AEW World Tag Team Champions on whether or not they will become the newest members of JAS.

Hook (c) vs Ethan Page (w/Matt Hardy)
– FTW Championship
FTW Champion Hook continues his feud with The Firm this Wednesday Night as he takes on Ethan Page. With wins over Stokely Hathaway and Matt Hardy under his belt, one wonders what more Hook has to do to put The Feud in his rearview mirror. On last week’s Rampage, Matt Hardy revealed he had prepared a contract for Hook to defend the FTW Championship against Ethan Page.
However, Hardy wore a smug grin as Page and Hook signed on the dotted line. What kind of chicanery has Hardy written into the contract for the FTW Championship match on Dynamite?

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta, & Orange Cassidy) vs House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, & Brody King)(c) – AEW World Trios Championships
Last week on Rampage, Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta took on Malakai Black and Brody King in tag team action. That match ended in a DQ finish after Brody King powerbomed Chuck Taylor through the timekeeper’s table. The action continued after the match, when Beretta took up a steel chair to avenge his fallen friend.
However, it was no use against the powerhouse Brody King. AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy took to the ring to make the save, only for Buddy Matthews to lay him out on the ramp. Shortly after the ring-clearing brawl, All Elite Wrestling announced that House of Black would defend their trios straps in a match against Best Friends this week.
Will the Best Friends chalk up their first tag championship in AEW, or will House of Black continue their reign of Trios dominance?
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 04/05/23
Riho vs Jamie Hayter (c)
– AEW Women’s World Championship
Inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion Riho has racked up an impressive string of victories since her return to the promotion in late 2022. In 2023 alone, she’s clocked in victories over the likes of Diamante, Nyla Rose, and Emi Sakura. On AEW Dark: Elevation, we learned that Riho was named #1 Contender to current Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter.
In the last few weeks, Riho and Jamie Hayter have been looking out for one another, as the attacks by Saraya and The Outcasts have ramped up. But this week they come into conflict over the one thing everybody in the AEW Women’s Division wants: The Women’s World Championship.
Riho has a win over Jamie Hayter from 2021, and Hayter has a win over Riho from a Dynamite taping last October. Only fitting that this multi-year rivalry caps off with a championship match. However, will The Outcasts have an impact on the outcome of this match?
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 04/05/23
The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn)(c) vs FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood)
– AEW Tag Team Championships
On the March 22nd episode of Dynamite, former AEW and ROH tag team champions FTR issued a challenge to Austin and Colten Gunn. However, The Gunns racked up a win over Wheeler and Harwood earlier this year on their path to the championships. Austin and Colten don’t need to prove they can beat FTR in a tag team match. This being the case, The Gunns asked for FTR to sweeten the pot. It was then that Dax Harwood stated that if FTR can’t defeat The Gunns this Wednesday, they will leave All Elite Wrestling. In the climactic final match, FTR fight for the championships and the right to wrestle in AEW against Austin and Colten Gunn.
It’s MJF Day!
On April 3rd, 2023, ahead of All Elite Wrestling’s return to Long Island, the Mayor of Long Island presented AEW World Champion MJF with the Key to Oyster Bay. The AEW Champion and Long Island native was uncharacteristically humble about the situation. However, he’s likely to be much less humble after Mayor Saladino declared April 5th “MJF Day” in honor of the champion’s homecoming.
He will likely have much to say, having the key to his hometown and being the man of the preceding 24 hours. However, with championship challengers in the form of Darby Allin, Jack Perry, and Sammy Guevara on the horizon, he’ll likely address his future as he looks ahead to Double Or Nothing on May 28th.
Expect some vitriol from the champ when he addresses his hometown on his day this Wednesday night on Dynamite!
What Else To Expect
- – A Major Announcement from Tony Khan
- – We’ll hear from Blackpool Combat Club
