As we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 03/29/23, we look back to last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite which was a barn burner of a show. At the top of the show, we learned that Matt and Nick Jackson of The Elite were being loaded into ambulances after a brutal attack. We saw the return of Adam Cole, the in-ring return of Stu Grayson, and AEW World Tag Team Champions Gunn Club retaining their titles against Top Flight.

Last Wednesday’s main event featured in international dream match, as Kenny Omega took on El Hijo de Vikingo. After the match, Blackpool Combat Club stormed the ring to lay a beatdown on Omega, only to be fended off by Adam Cole.

This week’s episode dovetails quite nicely onto last week’s, as we’ll see Cole’s return to in-ring competition and not one but two title matches. Let’s get right into it with this week’s edition of IGNITE!

Matt Hardy vs “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

For “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and Hook, the early months of 2023 have been defined by their feud with Stokely Hathaway and The Firm. Having come together at the start of the year, “JungleHook” have knocked out tag team victories over everyone in The Firm. In the past few weeks, they’ve been going after The Firm in singles bouts.

This week we see another chapter in the rivalry as Matt Hardy takes on Jungle Boy. Despite having shared the ring in multi-man tag bouts, this is the first time these two have met one on one. Hardy failed to capture Hook’s FTW championship at the start of the month, but will he be able to defeat Hook’s partner this Wednesday night?

    Ruby Soho vs Willow Nightingale

AEW’s newest faction, The Outcasts have been antagonizing the women’s division since their formation earlier this month. Among their favorite targets as of late has been Willow Nightingale. This must have been especially difficult for Nightingale considering her budding friendship with Ruby Soho not long ago.

This week she has the chance to hash it out in the ring as she takes on Ruby Soho in singles action. Willow Nightingale has a size and strength advantage over Soho, but the deciding factor in this match may come down to Saraya and Toni Storm at ringside.

Blackpool Combat Club vs Dalton Castle & The Boys

The Blackpool Combat Club have been making few friends in AEW as of late. Lately they’ve been picking fights with Adam Page, Dark Order, and The Elite. In fact, BCC was likely behind last week’s attack on The Young Bucks. This week, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli take on ROH’s Dalton Castle & The Boys.

This match will prove something of a tune-up for Yuta and Castagnoli ahead of their PURE and ROH World Championship matches, respectively, this Friday night at Supercard of Honor. However, after their recent actions, it’s quite likely that we might see a run-in against the BCC this Wednesday night.

    Adam Cole vs Daniel Garcia

Last week Adam Cole announced that the wait was over. He had recovered from the severe concussion he suffered at Forbidden Door and was cleared to compete. However, as Cole was laying out his upcoming plans in AEW, JAS’s Daniel Garcia interrupted. Garcia then ran down his accomplishments in Cole’s absence, referring to himself as a “locker room leader.”

Garcia then laid out a challenge for Adam Cole’s return to in-ring action. Will Adam Cole make a winning comeback in his first match since Forbidden Door? Find out this Wednesday.

Orange Cassidy (c) vs The Butcher
    – AEW International Championship

Fresh off his International Championship defense against Jeff Jarrett, Orange Cassidy has gotten himself into a feud with The Butcher and The Blade. Last week, we saw Cassidy team up with Sting and Darby Allin to defeat The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian.

The Butcher seems to have made an impact on Orange Cassidy, as “The King of Sloth Style” is putting his AEW International Championship on the line. Will we see a new champion or will Orange Cassidy continue his 175-day run? Cassidy is already racking up a reign by which all future international champions will be judged.

Kenny Omega (c) vs Jeff Cobb

    – IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship

Earlier this year at NJPW New Year Dash, Kenny Omega cut a biting promo towards former IWGP Tag Team and NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb. At the event, Omega teamed with longtime rival Kazuchika Okada to defeat Cobb and his United Empire teammate Aaron Henare.

It seems this loss stuck in Cobb’s craw, as he has challenged for the IWGP United States Championship in a match that Tony Khan announced himself. But with Kenny Omega fresh off his match with El Hijo Del Vikingo, and with the Young Bucks’ fate weighing heavy on his mind, will he have what it takes to defeat The Imperial Unit?

Or will Jeff Cobb be taking the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship back to Japan? Find out in the exciting main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite.
