AEW Collision for 08/12/23
The Acclaimed Return to Action
On July 22, the Acclaimed and Billy Gunn lost another heartbreaking AEW Trios Championship match. Even more shocking, Billy Gunn removed his boots in the ring. Did “Daddy Ass” just retire after a thirty-four-year career?
An emotional Acclaimed returns to in-ring action on this week’s AEW Collision for the first time since Billy Gunn’s retirement. They said they will bring Gunn’s boots to the ring in Greensboro and going forward in their careers. Can the talented tag team refocus after the emotions of the last few weeks? It all starts on Saturday night.

Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale vs. Diamante & Mercedes Martinez
Kris Statlander pulled off an impressive victory over Mercedes Martinez on last week’s AEW Collision to retain her TBS Championship. Martinez proved to be a poor sport and attacked Statlander post-match. Diamante ran to the ring to join in the unprovoked attack. That is until Willow Nightingale made the save of the TBS Champion running off the heels.
This week we have a huge tag team match with Statlander teaming with Nightingale against Martinez and Diamante. Can these new tag teams work well together? And will a new contender to the AEW TBS Championship emerge after Saturday night’s tag team match? The stakes are high in the improving AEW Women’s Division on Collision.
AEW Collision for 08/12/23
House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, & Buddy Matthews) (c) vs. (CMFTR) Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood & CM Punk
(AEW World Trios Championship)
Last week, House of Black successfully defended the AEW World Trios Championship yet again. House of Black has been an unstoppable team since winning the titles back at AEW Revolution in early March. They will, however, be facing their most formidable challengers to date in a huge title match on this week’s AEW Collision.
It was certainly a surprise to see after their defense last week that CM Punk and FTR would be facing the House of Black for the World Trios Championship. But CMFTR are undefeated as a Trios team. Can they claim more gold in this huge main event? We know House of Black will be ready. It could be a special match for the fans in Greensboro.
