AEW Battle of the Belts III. It’s a big week for All Elite Wrestling, with their third iteration of Battle of the Belts set for Saturday, August 6th. The event will tape on Friday in Grand Rapids, Michigan,, before a live episode of Rampage headlined by Jon Moxley taking on Mance Warner and the AEW debut of Madison Rayne.

Battle of the Belts III surely won’t disappoint, with three high-profile championship matches set for this Saturday special.

TNT Championship: Wardlow (c) vs. Jay Lethal

Since turning on MJF and dethroning Scorpio Sky to become TNT Champion, “Mr. Mayhem” Wardlow has been nothing but unstoppable. However, he faces what may be his biggest challenge since becoming TNT Champion: Jay Lethal. The veteran Lethal is a former two-time ROH World Champion and the longest-reigning ROH TV Champion in history; he looks top to earn his first piece of hardware in AEW.

Lethal, along with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh, have been making life a living hell for Orange Cassidy and Best Friends over the past few weeks. This didn’t sit well with Wardlow, whose respect Cassidy earned in a recent title match. On this week’s edition of Dynamite, Wardlow rescued Cassidy from a three-on-one beatdown and challenged Lethal to the bout.

    AEW Women’s Championship:
Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Jamie Hayter

Two More Championship Matches Set For AEW Battle Of The Belts III
    [via AEW]
Thunder Rosa won her AEW Women’s Championship from Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. almost five months ago; at Battle of the Belts, she’ll defend against Baker’s right-hand woman – Jamie Hayter. Rosa and Hayter have wrestled a singles match once in AEW during the TBS Championship Tournament in November 2021. Rosa scored the victory in that match after Baker got involved and inadvertently cost Hayter.

However, Hayter has momentum on her side after pinning Rosa’s “Thunderstorm” partner Toni Storm in a tag-team match on this week’s Dynamite which also involved Baker. This championship match offers Hayter a real opportunity to prove herself against the very best and step out of Baker’s shadow.

AEW Battle of the Belts III
    ROH World Championship:
Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Claudio Castagnoli will defend the ROH world title at Battle of the Belts 3 - Cageside Seats
    [via AEW]
Claudio Castagnoli has been unstoppable since arriving in AEW and joining the Blackpool Combat Club. He became ROH World Champion at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor on July 23rd, defeating Jonathan Gresham. Seeing the former Cesaro debut in AEW and return to ROH to win his first world championship has been a dream come true for many.

Konosuke Takeshita has become one of AEW’s most promising young breakout stars over the past few months. The 27-year-old has wrestled the likes of Hangman Page, Eddie Kingston,, and Jay Lethal. Although a decorated champion in Japan’s DDT and KO-D promotions, he hasn’t tasted any gold on North American soil. Will his time come against Castagnoli come at Battle of the Belts III?

Battle of the Belts III features some of AEW’s top talent highlighting some of All Elite Wrestling’s and Ring of Honor’s champions. Which of this night’s champions will be retaining and which one’s will walk out on the losing end of their title defense’s?
