Absolute Pro Wrestling Presents Return to the Loo. Pro wrestling promotions, much like other combat sports, crave the Big Fight Feel. They want that match that gives their show instant credibility. One that has the potential to capture the fan’s emotions with the possibility of being an instant classic.
This Saturday night in Waterloo, Iowa, Absolute Pro Wrestling has that in their main event match of Matty Star defending the APW Championship against Brandon “The Shank” Eubanks.
Matty Star became the inaugural Absolute Pro Wrestling Champion during APW’s biggest show of 2022, Gold Rush. That night he defeated Ethan Everheart in a ladder match that will stand the test of time as one of APW’s greatest matches.
However, the way Star went about picking up that victory, a timely assist from Lars Metzger being the deciding factor, didn’t sit well with the fans and officials of APW, including promoter Jason Prentice.
“Matty won the belt in a way that left this bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths,” Prentice said. “As champion, he’s found every way to hang on to the belt thus far. He’s coming off a successful albeit questionable defense against Tyler Jones, but this is a different monster to overcome Saturday night.”
Star’s opponent, The Shank, who is also one of the creators of APW and has ties to Waterloo, is no stranger to big fights. A mixed martial arts background gave him firsthand experience in big-time singles competition before he jumped into the world of pro wrestling.
During his time in the world of body slams and steel chairs, The Shank has been more of a tag team specialist. He currently teams with Bryce Jordyn in Da Boys – but Prentice feels Shank is more than ready to be the man who ends Star’s reign at the top of APW.
“When Shank and I discussed shows, he originally told us in charge he didn’t want to be a promoter fighting for the belt, and we respected that,” Prentice said. “When Matty won the title, I admittedly was selfish and asked Shank to be a contender.
I believe in Brandon as a guy who can carry a company on his shoulders, and I know the entire city of Waterloo believes in him too.”
Entering his first singles championship match, to some Shank could be considered the underdog. This fact hasn’t made a single dent in his confidence entering the big fight.
“This just means I’m at home; you’re telling me we’re going to go out there and scrap? Count Me In I’ll take doubles of whatever Matty is serving.
When you’re the greatest at fighting, they don’t call you the greatest; they call you Brandon “The Shank” Eubanks.”
In Matty Star, you have a champion who loves nothing more than getting under the skin of the fans, especially fans of another hometown boy.
Ethan Everheart also had ties to Waterloo and Star loved nothing more than breaking their hearts when he defeated him in their ladder match. He will relish that opportunity coming again Saturday night.
“I predict the same thing that’s happened every time since I’ve won this title. Pain. Kids crying. Fans upset. Brandon “the shank” picking up another embarrassing loss. F! him. In me, I trust!”
Star versus Shank headlines what should be an outstanding event, as the rest of the card has some real potential for greatness.

Cole Cannon vs. Viktor Payn
This match features to bulls ready to make the move into title contention. Viktor Payn has been on a roll, especially when APW visits his hometown of Fort Dodge, Iowa. His last two visits there have led to victories, one in a singles match and the other a triple threat that featured Cole Cannon.
Speaking of Cannon, he has all the tools to be a top contender for the APW Championship, and a win over the red-hot Payn puts him right back in the line to try and earn a shot. These are two big dudes who can be thrown down with the best of them, and this one has tons of potential as a barn burner.
It all goes down Saturday night in Waterloo as Absolute Pro Wrestling continues on their path to the Super Slam in May.
