On October 3rd, 1985, the WWF presented Saturday Night’s Main Event II from the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The show begins with Mean Gene Okerland speaking with Classie Freddie Blassie and Nikolai Volkoff at the entrance way prior to the event.

Mean Gene shared that Hulk Hogan will not beat the Russian Flag and retain the WWF Championship. To that Volkoff said when he wins he will take the WWF Championship back to Russian and not hesitate to press the missile button on this country..(that comment didn’t age well).

Blassie then shared Volkfoff always means what he says. We then hear from Hulk Hogan who says that Volkoff is no threat to him or to the US.

Then we hear from Mean Gene Okerland with Uncle Elmer and Hillbilly Jim discussing his upcoming wedding on the show.

Elmer shared that he is a man on a mission of love. But that was interrupted by ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper. Piper said that if he was on a mission it would be on the launching pad. This leads to the upcoming show credits.

On commentary is Vince McMahon and Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura who are discussing the upcoming matches on the card. Ventura said that he isn’t impressed with the marriage but is looking forward to the wrestling alone.

Volkoff begins by singing the Russian national anthem. He then shares that typical Americans have no class. We then hear Hulk Hogan at the entrance way with the US flag with him. He then calls the Russian flag that of their ‘enemies’.

Hogan then comes down to the ring with the American flag waving it high above. Then Volkoff jumps Hogan from behind and proceeds to beat him down. Volkoff then rips off the shirt of the champion and proceeds to choke him with it.

Volkoff tries to ram Hogan’s head in the turnbuckle but Hogan reverses it. Hogan then gets the advantage and hits a clothesline off the rop and follows up with an elbow drop. Hogan then hits a headbutt on Volkoff.

We then see a big boot that knocks Volkoff outside of the ring and to the floor. But Volkoff tosses Hogan into the ring post. Volkoff beats on the champion.

He then climbs the second rope and drops a double ax handle on Hogan. He follows up with a headbutt and then a Gorilla Press on Hogan followed by a back breaker.

Volkoff takes too long to go for the cover and Hogan kicks out at two. Nikolai then drops a boot low on the champion on the mat.

Hogan reverses a piledriver attempt into a back breaker. Hulk then proceeds Hulk up after taking Volkoff’s best shots. Hogan takes all that Volkoff has to offer and then drops his big legdrop. He then follows up with a pinfall and gets the three count.

Winner:  AND STILL WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan

After the match, Hogan takes the Russian flag and wipes his feet with it and throws it down as he holds up the American flag proudly carrying the flag and title around the ring.

Vince McMahon then goes back to the arena floor where Mean Gene Okerland speaks with Hulk Hogan after his win against Nikolai Volkoff.

He then shares his thoughts on the upcoming wedding for Uncle Elmer. We then see the bride to be prepared for the upcoming nuptials.

Mean Gene then speaks with Uncle Elmer and Hillbilly Jim. Elmer shares that he isn’t worried about anything to come. Cousin Jr then shares that he isn’t worried about his upcoming match either.

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
Gentleman Jerry Valiant vs. Uncle Elmer with Hillbilly Jim and Cousin Jr.

With Valiant in the ring, Elmber, Jim and Jr make their way down to the ring. The bell rings and Valiant charges at Elmer who picks him up an slams. He then immediately covers him for the pinfall and the three count.

    Winner: Uncle Elmer.

The match was a new record of lasting 6 seconds. We then hear and see how excited Uncle Elmer is. There is then a recap of the record he broke. After the match, Uncle Elmer spoke about the record he just set ahead of the upcoming wedding.

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
The Body Shop with Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura featuring Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan.

Ventura and Heenan spoke about how Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff used to be under his management. But now he wants to get Orndorff out of wrestling with a bounty of $50,000 to get him out. That challenge may come from ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper.

After the segment, Paul Orndorff speaks with Mean Gene about how he plans to stop Piper and his attempt to collect on the bounty.

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
‘Mr. Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff vs. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper

Before the match, Orndorff makes his way to the ring and we hear from Mean Gene and Roddy Piper at the entranceway. Piper says that Heenan better pay up on his bounty or he’ll get his throat ripped out too.

Piper says that he doesn’t need to act tough to be tough. He then shares that he will take it to Orndorff. We then hear Piper’s bagpipes playing him to the ring.

As Piper makes his way to the ring, we see the referee trying to hold back Orndorff from making his way to the ring.

Once in the ring the two go at it against one another tooth and nail! Bobby Heenan is at ringside with the briefcase full of the bounty.

After the early advantage by Piper, Orndorff recovers. It’s an absolute brawl between the two. The two men are ripping and clawing at each other.

We then see Piper with a modified DDT and then a stomp to the head of Orndorff. Boot after boot by Piper leads to the match going to the outside. Orndorff then climbs the top ripe and hits a belly to back suplex on Piper.

Fans in attendance are clearly behind Orndorff. But a thumb to the eyes by Piper gives him the advantage. He then hits a knee lift on Orndorff.  Piper is then whipped into the ropes and both men collide knocking both men to the canvas.

Piper climbs ontop of Orndorff and continues to beat on him. But when he leaps onto a second time Orndorff puts his knees up.

Both men make their way out to the floor and continue to battle all the way to the commentary area up the rampway. The continue to battle under the commentary and to the back and dressing room area. Orndorff gets locked out of a room trying to get to Piper.

Winner: Neither, as the match is deemed a no contest due to a double count-out.

McMahon shares that after the break will be the upcoming network wedding of Uncle Elmer. Elmer stood in the ring waiting for the bride coming down to the ring.

The ring is set up with an alter and steps that she can walk up. Both Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant to climb into the ring. Andre, Hulk, Captain Lou Albano, Hillbilly Jim, Cousin Jr and Uncle Elmer are all in attendance for the wedding.

We then hear the vows of marriage between both Uncle Elmer and his bride, Joyce. Then something fell from above and hit her in the head. But she no sold it as the ceremony would continue.

Ventura is laughing because Uncle Elmer is having a hard time hearing him. But then the justice of the peace asks if anyone has just cause as to why they shouldn’t be together to speak now or forever hold their peace.

This is what brings out Rowdy Roddy Piper and says that there is no room here for romance and wrestling. He said that there is no place for any of this in wrestling.

This leads to Hogan to take a step out of the ring but Piper then heads back. The Justice of the Peace then proceeds to name them husband and wife. They both then proceed to kiss as Mean Gene Okerland plays them out.

Back in the reception area, we see a pair of pigs, chickens, tables set up, the wedding cake in preparation for the upcoming event.

We then hear from Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan at the entrance way with King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd sharing their plans for Andre the Giant. (40:50)

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
    Battle of the Giants
Andre the Giant and Tony Atlas with Captain Lou Albano vs. King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd with Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan

We see a flashback of the attack Bundy and Studd had on Andre in the Maple Leaf Garudens. The match begins with Andre going right after him.

He’s choking him and dropping forearms on Bundy. He follows up by backing him in the corner and continues to work him over.

Andre then drives Bundy’s head into that of Tony Atlas. Atlas is then tagged in and Bundy then tried to drop an elbow but to no avail. Studd is tagged in and he and Atlas jockey for position in the match.

Atlas hits a series of headbutt’s and attempts to scope him up and slam him but to no avail. Then Atlas misses a dropkick and Studd regains the advantage.

But Bundy comes in and splashes Atlas. Bundy is then forced from the ring and Atlas makes the tag to Andre. Andre then comes in and works over Big John Studd. Andre then whips Studd into the ropes and takes him down with a big boot.

On the outside of the ring, Atlas is beaten down by Studd. Inside the ring Bundy and Studd work over Andre. The referee calls for the bell ending the match in a disqualification.

Winners: via disqualification Andre the Giant and Tony Atlas

But Andre can’t seem to beat them both off. This forces Hulk Hogan from the back and takes the fight to Bundy and Studd to aid Andre. Eventually, this forces Studd, Bundy and Heenan from the ringside area.

After a brief commercial break, Mean Gene Okderland interviews Andre the Giant, Tony Atlas and Hulk Hogan. Hogan then shares he came out because Tony and Andre seemed to have Bundy and Studd beaten and show their support.

Gene then says he believes there is more happening at this very moment. Hogan then shares what it is that yes there is more set to happen but they didn’t want to share it just yet.

In a pre-recorded interview ‘Jungle’ Gene Okderland is in the forest speaking with George ‘The Animal’ Steele. At least he begins to search for him at the ‘Geological Zoo’.

We flash back to what happened at the previous Saturday Nights Main Event. That since then, Captain Lou Albano sought electroshock therapy for George but that ultimately led to a relapse.

We then see Gene with George Steele and an elephant near by along with a Tiger. We then see a leamer. He would refer to each animal to someone he knows of.

Bundy and Heenan are among them. We hear George say goodbye as he leaps into the tall grass ends his interview with Mean Gene Okerland. (51:01)

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
    WWF Tag Team Champions
Leaping Lanny Poffo and Tony Garea vs. Brutus Beefcake and Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine with Lucious Johnny Valiant ©

Before the match, we see what happened in a previous altercation in a six-man tag match with how Beefcake used a cigar to rub into the eyes of Barry Windham.

Then after a brief break we see the tag team champions in the ring with their opposition and challengers for the WWF tag team champions.

We then see former WWF Tag team champions, Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda looking on at ringside. Valentine tries to get the better of Leaping Lanny but he fights off the attack.

Poffo then hits a moonsault on Beefcake. But Valentine stops the attack and tags in Valentine. Poffo tried to make the tag to his partner Tony Garea but to no avail. The champs then make the tag to Beefcake. But Garea is eventually tagged into the match.

Garea is beaten down. But then Greg Valentine locks in the figure four leg lock who can’t handle it and gives up.

Winners: AND STILL WWF Tag Team champions, Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine and Brutus Beefcake.

After the match, the champions beat down on the challengers. We then see the champions holding the titles over head.

    Saturday Nights Main Event II
    Uncle Elmer’s Wedding Reception

We then are at Uncle Elmer’s wedding reception. At the reception, Jesse Ventura, Paul Orndorff, Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan sitting at a table together. Ventura continues to badmouth the entire event.

But then we see Captain Lou Albano who says he is trying to educate Cousin Jr and how he needs to keep the left hand clean.

Leaping Lanny offers a poem to the newlyweds. Hillbilly Jim then offers a toast to Uncle Elmer and Joyce. Tiny Tim then comes in and congratulates the new couple and offers to be lovely with each other.

He then presents a ukele as a gift to Uncle Elmer and Joyce. Jesse Ventura then comes then to provide to a poem himself.

While it initially felt warm and tender it then went in the direction of insulting and hurtful to Elmer and Joyce. That was just when Orndorff, Hogan and Hillbilly Jim get up to surround Jesse who is then tripped and lands in the wedding cake.

After a commercial break we hear that Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan will team up to face King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd in a few weeks time from this episode at the next Saturday Night’s Main event.

We then get the final goodbyes from Vince McMahon as we see Joyce and Uncle Elmer enjoying a dance at their reception.
