On Saturday, December 10th, 20222, WWE presents NXT Deadline. The latest in NXT’s premium live events once again features five matches, with a specialty match being the focal point of the card. Often multi-man or multi-women matches suffer from someone having to sit out while others have a moment to showcase their skills.

While showcasing a skillset isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it is if three others sit idle, awaiting a moment to get into the ring. But when we add the penalty box where someone will need to sit and run the risk of watching someone win and they can’t do anything about it, we could be surprised by what combinations of talents will work with one another.

Among the five matches scheduled include two title matches involving former WWE champions on either Raw or Smackdown competing now in NXT. Here is our preview for NXT Deadline below.

    Iron Survivor Challenge
Joe Gacy vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller vs. Axiom vs. JD McDonagh

These five men are hungry for a win. But from the ashes of the match known as the King of the Mountain, the ISC will prove to be different for WWE fans. Many are familiar with the idea of the pods that the Elimination Chamber match presented. The difference here is that it could and likely will lead to someone winning and losing this match while someone is in the penalty box.

Of those involved, each one could lay claim to being the Iron Survivor. But if we were to consider who is in the midst of push with all around him, we think Joe Gacy has enough resources around him to secure a win. But Hayes, Waller, McDonagh, and Axiom will either come close be someone that beings a rivalry with the eventual winner of the match.

The rules for the Iron Survivor Challenge are as follows:

    • Five Superstars will compete in this unique 25-minute match as they battle each other and the clock.
    • Two Superstars will start the match, and every five minutes a new Superstar will enter the match until all five are in the ring.
    • The goal is to have the most falls when the clock hits 25 minutes.
    • Falls can be won at any time via pinfall, submission, or disqualification.
    • When a Superstar scores a fall, they will earn one point.
    • However, when a Superstar loses a fall, that Superstar must pay the penalty. They are forced out of the ring and into a penalty box for 90 seconds.
    • Once the 90 seconds are up, the Superstar can re-enter the match.
    • The Superstar who has scored the most falls when the clock hits 25 minutes will be named the Iron Survivor and become the No. 1 Contender to the NXT Championship and NXT Women’s Championship, respectively.

    NXT Tag Team Championships
Pretty Deadly (c) vs. The New Day

Is it a New Day? That’s the question posed as we head into NXT Deadline. The current NXT Tag Team Champions have been challenged by the former longest-running WWE tag team champions of all time. When Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston came out, they immediately presented the single biggest threat to Pretty Deadly’s titles.

As the duo has faced everyone from Briggs and Jensen to Gallus to the Creed Brothers, it is the New Day and their achievements that have left this tandem a little star-struck. Oftentimes, when two teams haven’t faced each other and are on opposite sides of the spectrum, in-ring chemistry will come into question.

Will these two teams create something for fans to scream and shout about, or will it fall flat?

    NXT Deadline
    Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn

NXT UK is alive and well in Orlando, Florida. While the WWE collapsed its UK brand, several of the brand’s top talents came over to the United States. The result is a match such as this one. Two women of tremendous skill, personality, and character will do everything they can to tear the other apart limb from limb.

For Fyre, she has faced disappointment in losing out on capturing the NXT Women’s Championship on more than one occasion. This match should bring with it a match with intrigue, mystery, and likely some smoke and mirrors but a number of stiff strikes.

    NXT Deadline
    Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge
Zoey Stark vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Cora Jade vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James

Much like the men’s challenge previewed earlier, these five women are hungry to prove that they should be the Iron Survivor. Of the five women involved, only one appears to be the face amongst four other heels. Roxanne Perez has issues with her former friend Cora Jade and has recently had them with Indi Hartwell as well.

Does that make Perez more susceptible to being a focus of others in this match? If that is the case the dark horse in the match is likely Kiana James. The unassuming rising talent in NXT could be the one to watch in this match. Or could this finally be the night that Indi Hartwell wins a match that puts her in contention for the NXT Women’s Championship?

    NXT Championship
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Apollo Crews

Over the past few weeks, fans have seen these filmed segments between Bron and Apollo spending some time with one another. Whether it’s going out for lunch or going fishing together, these ‘friends’ are as easily willing to take jabs with one another as they are trying to playfully get into the other one’s head.

The trash talk isn’t like anything we would normally hear. What it is has been simply both men trying to jockey for position in this match and in each other’s headspace. For Apollo Crews, his time in NXT previously wasn’t met with championships or even title contention. This match has all the makings of something special as it combines the agility and power of one man against the agility and power of another.
