Before Ring of Honor and CMLL’s co-promoted Global Wars Espectacular in Chicago, perhaps the final match of the NWA and ROH partnership took place. Villain Enterprises, comprised of Brody King and PCO, defended the NWA World Tag Team Championships against the team of Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs. Sadly for King and PCO, they would not leave Chicago as the NWA World Tag Team Champions.

The NWA World Tag Team Championships return to active competition went down during the recent tournament to crown new champions as part of the Crockett Cup event. Latimer and Isaacs were participants in the tournament, having won the Wild Card Battle Royal. This was held to open the show to determine the final team entering the field of competition with the likes of the Rock’n’Roll Express, The Briscoes and the eventual winners, Villain Enterprises.

In Chicago, VE’s 133-day reign came to a close. The seemingly random pairing of Latimer and Isaacs defied the odds and walked away as the new champions. Neither Thomas Latimer or Royce Isaacs is particularly new to tag team competition. Latimer, best known as Bram from his time in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, was part of the original incarnation of The Ascension in FCW as Kenneth Cameron. He was also part of the group Death Crew Council in IMPACT Wrestling. Isaacs is currently one half of a team known as One Percent with Jorel Nelson. The One Percent and Isaacs as a single are regulars up and down the west coast, prominently for DEFY Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and Future Stars of Wrestling.

The NWA World Tag Team Championships have now been held across 148 different title reigns by 95 various teams in the titles’ history. Some of the most notable are: The Andersons (Gene & Ole), The Brisco Brothers (Jack & Jerry Brisco), The Russians (Ivan & Nikita Koloff, Krusher Kruschev), the Rock’n’Roll Express, both incarnations of the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condry; Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane), and the Road Warriors. Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs now add their names to the annals of NWA World Tag Team Champions.

The NWA announced that the full match will be made available shortly. Stay tuned to the Pro Wrestling Post for news, event previews and reviews and so much more.
