Remembering the Dream Warrior. I can’t even remember the year. I’d guess about 2002 – in the dead of winter. It was night. I was driving a rear-wheel, two-door, brown 1980-something on the Trans-Canada Highway in the middle of an ungodly snowstorm. In the passenger seat was a near-300 lb. (OF MUSCLE!) An indigenous wrestler named Dream Warrior. We were in a car that we borrowed just for this trip. We wrestled in Portage la Prairie earlier that day, a small town just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba. At the time, there weren’t a lot of First Nation wrestlers in Canada –…

Crusher Carlsen was billed at 6’4” and 450 lb. So, when he walked into Regina’s legendary Exhibition Auditorium, I couldn’t help but look up from the task I was doing. The size of Crusher was always amplified by his walk. Big steps, big arm swings, somehow methodical without being slow. It was January 1997, I was in grade 9, and it was my second day on ring crew with Hardcore Wrestling. We were setting up for the first big event of the young wrestling company. Before this, Hardcore Wrestling was running free shows out of a garage in front of…

Wrestling with Quarantine. A few nights ago, I dreamt about a wrestling ring in an empty building with no one around. Before the pandemic, sometimes I’d think about sequences, countermoves, and promos at night. I know a lot of wrestlers do that. But lately, trying to do that has been tough. The last event I wrestled at was three days before our government put into effect restrictions on public gathering. I do believe the restrictions are important and need to be enforced. But now we’re all wrestling with quarantine. Estimates on how long restrictions on public gatherings will last range…

Ringside Wrestling Fall Brawl Results I’m happy to give the Ringside Wrestling Fall Brawl results but also a lot more. I’ll also be giving you Thryllin’s Thoughts because let’s face it, that’s what this is all about. To start things off Ringside Wrestling North American Champion, Cannonball Kelly and his manager Johnny 2 Fingers came out and began berating the fans and the former champ Mentallo. Known as a competitor who lets his fists and feet do the talking, Mentallo, stormed the ring and laid a beating on Cannonball Kelly. With the rotund Cannonball down, Mentallo turned his attention to…

Results from September to Remember 2019 Friday, September 6 – German Club – Regina, Sask There has been a shift of talent in the Saskatchewan indy scene, and it was certainly felt at Ringside Wrestling’s September to Remember VI. Screaming Eagle vs. Bucky McGraw In the opening bout, long-time High Impact Wrestling (HIW) star Bucky McGraw made his Ringside debut. A man of many roles at HIW, Bucky leaves all that behind for a fresh start with Ringside Wrestling. But it didn’t go as he planned. When Bucky attempted a superplex, the Screaming Eagle blocked it and threw Bucky to…

Do I like my tag team partner Jacob Creed? No. Well, maybe. He literally refers to our team as Jacob and the Jackass. But let’s look back at the whole story before our tag title match on Friday, September 6 against Joey Vendetta and Moses Luke. This is the tale of Jacob and the Jackass. Back in December 2018 at Ringside Wrestling’s annual Rumble match, I was eliminated by Creed. I returned the favor by coming back out at the end of the match. I slapped Creed and cost him the win in the Rumble. Things escalated quickly after that.…

From Hardcore to Ringside, this is the story of establishing the Regina indy wrestling territory as it is today. I walked into the hardcore wrestling ring building on a January night in 1997. It was dirty, cold, concrete and unapologetic – I felt like I was in heaven. As a rebellious grade-nine-kid, I was desperately looking for a place to fit in. This was day one of my journey from hardcore to ringside. The ring building resembled an emptied-out autobody shop, with an old boxing ring in the middle. On the tall, white garage door in the eastside of the…

I’m Thryllin’ Dylan with your review of Warfare 2019. When I broke into the wrestling industry, it was 1997 and I was in grade 9. I helped out with ring crew, sound and other odd jobs. In 2000, I had my first match. Fast forward to 2019, I wrestle mostly for a company in Regina, Sask. called Ringside Wrestling. While I spent many years in High Impact Wrestling and I do occasional matches with Canadian Wrestling’s Elite, Ringside Wrestling is my home company now. Cannonball crashes Fan Appreciation Night Earlier this summer, on Friday, July 19, Ringside Wrestling presented Ringside:…
