The Center for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) recommends the cancellation or postponement of events of more than 50 people. With earlier reports circulating that events of more than 250 people be canceled, the belief was smaller promotions to hold events. However, AAW Pro announced yesterday that their upcoming event EPIC has been postponed. The same could be said about Limitless Wrestling’s whose upcoming Cause for Alarm has been canceled. Of course, these cancellations all lead to what is the single biggest wrestling event of the year in WrestleMania and its future. In a press release issued yesterday by MLW, the promotion stated that it would temporarily suspend promoting any upcoming live events for a minimum of 45 days. NEW YORK — Major League Wrestling has suspended promoting live events for 45 days, effective immediately, as the league continues to assess the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As reported by Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens, a number of independent wrestlers were believed to be in attendance at the WWE Performance Centre for a tryout. The tryouts, however, were later canceled and those in attendance were then sent home. Throughout the week a number of Japanese promotions have suspended events due to the coronavirus. These include Stardom, DDT, Pure-J and NJPW. On Sunday, March 5th all women’s promotion Stardom along with Pure-J and DDT have canceled shows due to the suspected outbreak. Stardom has canceled shows taking place in Gunma on March 20th and in Shinkiba taking place over the weekend of March 21st and 22nd.
