AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 5/10/23
Anna Jay A.S. vs. Julia Hart
– No Holds Barred
Back in April, as House of Black were in the midst of a championship feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society, a unique animosity formed between Anna Jay (A.S.) and Julia Hart. Having used their presence at ringside as valets to influence the outcome of matches between the JAS and House of Black, Hart, and Jay (A.S.) soon established a pattern of inserting themselves into each other’s matches.
This rivalry seemed to come to a head in the main event of a recent AEW Rampage, but the heat between these two has not died down. This week, Anna Jay (A.S.) and Julia Hart have the opportunity to settle the score once and for all in a no holds barred match. With the momentum behind these two competitors, the winner of this match may find themselves in title contention.

Claudio Castagnoli (ROH World Champion) vs Rey Fenix (ROH World Tag Team Champion)
– Double Jeopardy Match
Last week in an AEW interview with ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Rey Fenix (of ROH World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers) boasted that he knew he could beat the reigning champ. Castagnoli took a look at the new ROH Tag Team Championship belt on Fenix’s shoulder and remembered his time as ROH World Tag Team Champions with Chris Hero.
This prompted the ROH World Champion to issue a counter-challenge for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. This Monday, Tony Khan announced on Twitter that the two champions will clash in a Double Jeopardy match. The Double Jeopardy match serves as a dual #1 Contender’s Match, where the winner receives a future championship match.
However, with Claudio Castagnoli in the role of top singles competitor, who would he choose as a partner in a tag team championship match? Would he pick one of his Blackpool Combat Club teammates? Or might we see a reunion of the Kings of Wrestling?

House of Black (Malaki Black, Brody King, & Buddy Matthews) (c) vs Bandido & Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta)
– Open House Match
Last week, House of Black extended a unique open challenge to the AEW roster. In the “Open House” Challenge, any three competitors may challenge for the AEW World Trios Championships, provided they agree to the unusual stipulations. Matches “Open House” Challenge will feature no rope breaks for submissions and a 20-count for count-outs.
In addition, the Trios Champions retain the option to invoke a no-DQ stipulation. This Wednesday night, Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta step up to take the “Open House” Challenge along with unlikely partner, Bandido. This match marks the second time Best Friends have squared up with House of Black over the Trios championships and the third since they lost to Death Triangle in the inaugural Trios Championship Tournament.
Will the third time be the charm for the Best Friends, or will they be just the first victims in a new chapter for House of Black? Find out tonight on AEW Dynamite!

Orange Cassidy (c) vs Daniel Garcia
– AEW International Championship
Speaking of Best Friends and open challenges, Orange Cassidy has been on a tear in something of an open challenge of his own. Since winning the then-All Atlantic championship from Pac on December 12th, Orange Cassidy has defended the AEW International Championship almost every week.
For the man they call “The King of Sloth Style” he’s really been putting in the work as of late. Even when he’s not defending his title, you’ll usually see him in competition. Like last week, when he teamed with Adam Cole, Bandido, and Roderick Strong to defeat The Jericho Appreciation Society.
While the JAS at large licks their wounds, the up-and-coming Daniel Garcia hopes to bring some gold to The Society as he becomes the 22nd challenger to the AEW International Championship.
AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 5/10/23
Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega
– Steel Cage Match
Over the past few months, Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club have been assaulting members of the AEW Roster. Last week, Jon Moxley explained the group’s actions, saying that the Blackpool Combat Club are tired of being the best in the world. The brutal attacks on random members of the AEW roster are an attempt by Moxley and company to encourage stiffer competition.
If they continue to lay into their fellow competitors, Moxley reasoned that eventually somebody will want to hurt them enough to finally beat them. While most of the BCC’s attacks have occurred with no rhyme or reason, their favorite targets would appear to be Kenny Omega.
Just two weeks ago, BCC stormed the ring after Kenny Omega and Konosuke Takeshita’s victory over The Butcher & The Blade. The Moxley/Omega rivalry is as old as AEW, with Moxley making his debut in a surprise attack on Kenny Omega at the first Double or Nothing in 2019.
This Wednesday night, they’ll renew their feud in a steel cage match. But will the steel cage be enough to keep the Blackpool Combat Club at bay? Find out in this week’s barn-burner main event!
What Else To Expect:
– AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR respond to Jarett & Lethal’s challenge
– We’ll hear from Christian Cage
– Much more in the build to AEW Double Or Nothing on May 18th!
