We feature two former NXT North American champions squaring off in the 7/27/21 edition in the latest WWE NXT preview. While several matches are slated to take place on this Tuesday’s edition, we look at a few of the ones that have been advertised for this coming week’s show. There are three matches scheduled to take place. These matches include; a second NXT Breakout Tournament First Round match-up, a tag-team match-up with championship implications, and a match-up with one seeking to move up as a threat for the NXT Championship.

Of all the three matches slated, each one could very well lead to the upcoming NXT TakeOver 36 event. Will Bronson Reed get the better Adam Cole? Second, can Carmelo Hayes move past Jeff Briggs into the semi-finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament? Finally, will Thatcher/Ciampa or Dunne/Lorcan walk out winners and the next threat for MSK’s NXT Tag Team Championships? Here is the WWE NXT preview for 7/27/21.

    NXT Breakout Tournament

    First Round
    Carmelo Hayes vs. Josh Briggs

This first-round match includes two men that have worked to earn a name for themselves outside their time in the WWE. For Carmelo Hayes, he’s appeared on NXT television on two separate occasions, with both making a definite statement on those watching. His first match was against KUSHIDA, and his next one was against Adam Cole. Hayes’ match against Cole was referred to some as a ‘Ruthless Aggression moment.’ It was one not unlike John Cena’s challenge against Kurt Angle.

For those unaware of Josh Briggs, this monster of a man was carving a niche for himself time and time again. Briggs was building a name for himself competing along the US east coast, Beyond Wrestling, and more recently EVOLVE. On this night, only one of these two talented men will move on to the tournament’s semi-finals. Who among them will it happen to be on this night?

Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan vs. Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher

Four of NXT’s hardest hitters are set to face each other, looking to contend for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Despite coming off a loss to MSK for the NXT Tag Team Titles, Ciampa & Thatcher are not ones to rest on their laurels. Instead, they are picking themselves up and once again looking to earn themselves another championship opportunity. That opportunity comes in facing former co-NXT Tag Team Champion Oney Lorcan & NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne.

Each of the men involved have a championship pedigree about them. Whether that includes holding a title in the past or contending for it, all the men involved know what is at stake. A question that should be asked is what either team is willing to do in order to ensure they walk out victorious? Will this be Thatcher & Ciampa’s night or Dunne & Lorcan’s?

    Adam Cole vs. Bronson Reed

Everyone has to make a name for themselves. In the case of Bronson Reed, he not only wants to make a name for himself, he knows who to make it against. After Adam Cole made it clear that he was “done” with Kyle O’Reilly, a new threat made it clear they were stepping up the plate to challenge Cole. Cole has been calling himself ‘the greatest ever in NXT. That claim has made others step up and take notice. It is with that claim that Reed stood up to the challenge. He said to be the best; then he has to beat the best.

Upon going face-to-face with Cole, the former NXT Champion, Reed thwarted his attack and cleared the ring of him. When Reed was interviewed about facing Cole again, he was quick to say he will do what he did previously to him. Will this be the case once again, or will Cole overcome his latest challenge?

    What To Expect:

    • Will Samoa Joe come for Karrion Kross looking to exact revenge?
    • Will Hit Row and Legado del Fantasma once again go face to face with one another?
    • Who is next to step up to NXT Women’s Champion, Raquel Gonzalez?
