On May 10th, 1985, the WWF presented Saturday Nights Main Event 1. The show was held at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
The event begins with Cyndi Lauper advising Wendi Richter not to allow the Fabulous Moolah to pull her hair. She then comes in and is busy advising Richter of what she needs to do to beat Moolah.
We then see WWF Champion Hulk Hogan with Mr. T, who said that he wouldn’t be alone tonight in his match against Cowboy Bob Orton. Mr. T then said that if Roddy Piper gets involved, he will have to answer to him.
Vince McMahon is commenting with Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura about what will happen with the upcoming bouts on the show. This then leads to George ‘The Animal’ Steele, The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff with Classie Freddie Blassie.
We then hear from Mean Gene Okerland as he interviews the U.S Express, Ricky Steamboat and Captain Lou Albano. Albano addresses Freddie Blassie and what he plans to do to him if he gets involved in the match.

Six Man Tag Team Match
The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff © and George ‘The Animal’ Steele with ‘Classie’ Freddie Blassie vs The U.S Express (Barry Windham, Mike Rotunda) and Ricky Steamboat. With Captain Lou Albano.
It’s rare that in the 1980s where, all the faces were wearing black tights. Barry Windham and The Iron Sheik start off the match against one another. Windham blocks a punch of the Sheik and responds with a right hand of his own.
Windham then hits a hip toss and slams The Iron Sheik. This leads to him tagging Mike Rotunda and Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat then works on the left arm of The Iron Sheik. Rotnda is then tagged in, and they take down The Sheik once again.
Rotunda then makes a pinning attempt but Sheik then kicks out. Steamboat is then tagged in, and he hits a knife-edge chop on Sheik. But Sheik then puts Steamboat in an abdominal stretch but only briefly as Steamboat hip tosses Sheik, followed by Steele and Volkoff.
This clears the ring momentarily. Steamboat maintains control on the Sheik who then slams one half of the tag team champions. He then hits a dropkick off the top rope followed by a high crossbody on Sheik.
Volkoff is then tagged in but he meets the boot of Rotunda. A double dropkick by Windham and Steamboat takes down Volkoff. Rotunda is tagged in and he works over Volkoff. But George Steele breaks up the pinning attempt by Rotunda.
Rotunda then hits a pair of pinning attempts on Volkoff. Barry Windham is then tagged in but he hits a sunset flip that lands Volkoff into the ropes. Windham and Steele exchange punches and both his teammates dropped down off the ring apron avoiding a tag from George Steele.
This leads to Windham rolling up Steele from behind for the pinfall and the win.
Winners: America’s Team (The U.S Express and Ricky Steamboat)
After the match, Steele pulls apart the corner turnbuckle and then he’s attacked from behind by the tag team champions. Lou Albano then tries to come in and calm down George ‘The Animal’ Steele. Albano tries to embrace Steele and calm him in the process.
As the losing team heads back to the dressing room, The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, and George Steele battle at the entrance.

Piper’s Pit with ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and Cowboy Bob Orton.
Before this begins, we hear about what happened at WrestleMania and how. Paul Orndorff directs Orton to go back in the corner. Piper then tries to encourage Orndorff to sit down but he insists Piper to do it first.
Piper calls Orndorff a loser which causes Orndorff to rise up and direct Orton back and Piper to sit once again. Roddy then sits and encourages Orndorff to do the same. He reiterates about how it was Paul Orndorff’s shoulders were pinned. Piper says that he was doing his job.
He then told Orndorff and told him that he lost his guts. Mr. Wonderful then tells that he believes his own stuff and Piper told that he embarrassed himself, his family, and his teammates.
This leads to an attempted sneak attack by Piper but Orndorff stops him and knocks Bob Orton down. But just as Orndorff attempts to his patented piledriver, Cowboy Bob Orton stops him but hitting him in the back of the head.
This leads to Mr. T to come down to the ring and come to the aid of Paul Orndorff. Roddy has one of his chairs up and threatens to use it. Mr. T leads Mr. Wonderful back to the dressing room area.
We then see Mean Gene Okerland at the entranceway interviewing Hulk Hogan, asking him for his opinion of what has just transpired. Hogan says that he is dedicating this match against Cowboy Bob Orton to his mother.
Hogan then says a change of heart in Paul Orndorff.

With Orton and Piper in the ring, the champion makes his way to the ring. Fans are clutching and grabbing at the champion as he makes his way down the aisle and into the ring.
After a brief commercial, we see Mr. T in the ring ready to watch Hogan’s back. Just when it appeared as though Ace would attack Hogan from behind, Hogan stops him dead in his tracks. He hits three body slams forcing Orton out of the ring.
Piper gives Orton some advice, as Mr. T did the same to Hogan on the opposite side of the ring. Orton then misses a shoulder tackle on Hogan. Hogan continues to work on the arm that is in a cast repeatedly.
Hogan targets the arm of Cowboy Bob. He then whips Orton’s arm into the steel post. Orton then hits a high knee on Hogan. Cowboy Bob Orton now has the advantage on the champion. He continues to work over the champion.
Orton attempts to make a pin but Hogan kicks out. Cowboy Bob drives a fist on Hogan. He then drives a knee into the face of the prone champion.. Mr. T and Roddy Piper are exchanging words on the outside.
Back in the ring, Orton continues to work over the champion. He drops elbows and knees trying to keep the champion down. But Hogan begins to Hulk—up! He then looks at Orton and starts his comeback. He hits a clothesline, followed by an elbow.
Hogan has Orton in the corner and stands over him laying in right hand after right hand. But Orton comes out and lays in a reverse atomic drop on Hogan, dropping him to the mat. Cowboy Bob sets up Hogan on the middle rope. He then goes up and teases a superplex. But Hogan knocks him off.
He then hits a big leg drop but Piper punches Hogan causing a disqualification.
Winner via disqualification: AND STILL WWF Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan
After the match, Piper and Piper try to come after Hogan thinking that Mr. T is forced out. But out of nowhere, Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff comes out to make the save. Piper and Orton scurry out of the ring and to the back.
After a commercial break, the WWF Women’s World Championship is set to take place.

Wendi Richter © vs. The Fabulous Moolah
Up the aisleway, Mean Gene Okerland is with the Fabulous Moolah prior to the match. Moolah shares that she is tired of the interference she has to face time and time again by having Cyndi Lauper banned from ringside.
Vince McMahon then shares as she see’s the Fabulous Moolah on her way down to the ringside area. We then hear Mean Gene speaking with Cyndi Lauper and David Wolfe and Wendi Richter. S
he shares that Moolah interferes countless times and that what she did was no different then what Moolah has done. Moolah is the introduced while in the ring. It is at this point when we see Cyndi Lauper leading the WWF Women’s Champion, Wendi Richter to the ring.
Howard Finkle then reads the proclamation that the WWF has decreed that repeated interference that Cyndi Lauper has been banned from ringside. Lauper then proceeds to leave the ringside area and sits at the top of the entranceway watching what is happening on a moniter.
Moolah continues to put the boots and working over the champion. Wendi Richter is then thrown to the ringside area. She then throws a kick David Wolfe. But Moolah is focused on the crowd and ignores the champion.
This leads to Richter to dropkick her to the outside and to the floor. This leads to both women then making their way back in the ring. Richter eventually regains control and puts the boots to the challenger.
Richter then pulls the challenger off the ropes and into the center of the ring. Moolah regains control and continues to put the boots to champion. Just as she attempted to lift her up for a slam, the champion rolls her up for a pinfall and a three count.
Winner: AND STILL WWF Women’s Champion, Wendi Richter.
After the final count, Lauper is jumping up and down at the entrance way. She then charges down the aisleway and embraces with the champion in the ring. Wolfe, Richter and Lauper all celebrate together. Richter then gloats with the title in hand.
After a commercial break, Mean Gene Okerland is at the entrance way and he has the Junkyard Dog with his mother, Bertha. She shared how proud of JYD that she is.

‘The Duke of Dorchester’ Duke Doherty vs. Junkyard Dog with Bertha.
With Doherty announced and in the ring, JYD and his mother walk down the aisleway and to the ring. Bertha sits at ringside. JYD immediately stops Doherty and drops him with a clothesline.
The Dog pulls at the hair of Doherty and then tosses him back in the ring.
Doherty tries to throw punches and they have no affect. He then is stopped with repeated headbutts by JYD.
JYD then slams. Doherty off the top rope and to the floor. He then hits him with repeated headbutts on Doherty but doesn’t release him. JYD then hits an atomic drop on Doherty. He then hits him with a power slam, a pinfall, and a win.
Winner: Junkyard Dog
After the match, the Dog brings his mom into the ring and encourages her to dance with him. The crowd is excited, and it shows.
After the break, we witnessed Cyndi Lauper’s Mother’s Day party. With JYD and his mother Bertha we hear from the Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Classie Freddie Blassie, Captain Lou Albano, Hulk Hogan and his mother Ruth Hogan.
Cyndi Lauper, her mom and Wendi Richter are all together to celebrate and then we have the Fabulous Moolah crashing the party. Moolah begins to insult Lauper’s mom to which a fight breaks out and Mean Gene and Moolah are tossed into the tiered cake!
After the party, Jesse Ventura and Vince McMahon share their thoughts on the night and all the happenings.
