Japanese Legendary Wrestler To Retire Next January

In news that cut straight to mine and many other’s hearts. Jushin Thunder Liger announced this past week that he will be retiring from the squared circle next January after the NJPW Tokyo Dome show – Wrestle Kingdom.

He spoke that he wants fans all across the world to see him before he calls it quits. It looks like he’s embarking on a world retirement tour so to speak.

He also declared that he desperately wants to be at the G1 Supershow next month at Madison Square Garden.

By the time January rolls around he’ll be 55 years old and will have wrestled for over 30 years. He’s an 11 time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and 6 time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. He’s wrestled for promotions such as WCW, ROH, TNA and even the WWE.

The guy has influenced so many people not just in Japan but across the globe. The wrestling world will be losing a global icon next year, let’s hope NJPW celebrate the career of a legend.

Jim Ross Finished With WWE?

On the latest episode of his Ross Report, Jim Ross revealed that he will be parting with WWE when his contract expires on March 29.

He speaks candidly about leaving WWE and what he wants to do next:

“After talking a couple of weeks ago with Vince McMahon, we have mutually agreed that I need to move on. I will not be returning to WWE after the 29th of March. I’m leaving with great thoughts, very positive. I made a lot of money. Vince was amazing to Jan and myself. He set us up for life, financially, for which I can never repay him.”

“I still want to play the game. I still want to stay busy. I’m 67, I still feel I can get the job done doing wrestling play-by-play and I want to explore that opportunity and possibility. I’ll be moving on in a positive way. Nothing but good things to say about everyone involved. You know, I have my critics in WWE as we all do, as people do when you’re there for very long. It’s a very unique community and I have no regrets. The smartest thing I ever did was come to work for Vince McMahon in 1993.

Could he be going to AEW and working with them on their super secret hush hush TV show? He very well could even if his stock did drop after his exploits with AXS TV and NJPW. It felt like he didn’t do his homework when calling the shows he did, like he was off the pace a tad. With AEW, that could all change, being in from the ground up would make anyone eager to impress.

Gallows And Anderson To Leave WWE

Mike Johnson from PWInsider wrote this week that Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows could be leaving the WWE once their contracts expire.

He went on to say that Karl and Luke were approached a few weeks back by WWE officials in regards to a new contract offer (in the wake of Shawn Spears and Hideo Itami – aka Tye Dillinger & KENTA – asking for their releases). But both men turned down “multi-million” dollar deals, and instead gave notice that they would be leaving instead.

Apparently Gallows and Anderson are extremly frustrated with the way they have been booked and the direction of their WWE careers. The fact that their WWE Network show Botch Club was dropped after one episode also fuelled their ire.

Yes there’s plenty of time between now and September, so things could change. But both men are very determined (look at NJPW giving them better contracts before they left the company 3 years ago but still jumped), and with former Bullet Club alumni in a position of power at AEW, they could very well jump again knowing that they will get pushed as they see fit.
