Wrestling with Mental Health
In 2018, I wrote a very personal piece about myself and a battle with mental health, and how I was wrestling with mental health. Those that know me, know that I don’t like to talk about my personal life but my wife told me that I needed to let the world know how wrestling helped me in the days after my brother’s death. Over the past few months, I’ve seen people get bashed online for saying how wrestling helped their mental health during their personal dark times. Narrow-minded individuals saying things like “how can a fake sport help out mental…
Best WrestleMania Returns….EVER!
Before we start, I’d like to let you all know that I wrote this piece at the back end of February this year. We were all giddy with the expectation of what could and would be happening at this year’s WrestleMania. Fast forward a few weeks and the whole global landscape has changed, let alone the wrestling world. So with that in mind, here’s my piece in full. I hope you enjoy it the way it was intended….. It’s Mania season folks! And how better to kick the week off than by going back through the years to give to you…
The Birth Of Genesis Pro Wrestling
On the night of Saturday, 30th November 2019, I attended the Genesis Pro Wrestling debut show with my wife and son (or wingman if you follow me on social media). The promotion in question, Genesis Pro Wrestling, is a young up and coming company in the South East of England. They’re roughly around 20 miles from where we live and are pretty much my local company. Genesis Pro Wrestling – or GPW if you will – have a huge upside. And if their debut show is anything to go by, the future looks bright for them. My association with GPW…
I’m gonna prefix this off by saying that this is a taster, a condensed version of how in a roundabout way I became a ring announcer. As a child over here in the UK during the late 80’s, my wrestling journey began by watching WWF Superstars and Wrestling Challenge every Sunday morning on the tv. Seeing such charismatic characters as Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, Ultimate Warrior, et al enticed me with such a fervor that I wanted… No, I NEEDED to become a wrestler, but at the time, there were no schools around where I lived. There weren’t many schools…
